Sleep Announce Final Shows Before Indefinite Hiatus

0

Seminal doom trio Sleep reunited in 2009 for a handful of shows after a long period of dormancy, and the outfit has been sporadically treating fans to live performances ever since, plus a magnificent album of new material, The Sciences, released on April 20, 2018. But according to the band’s latest announcement, Sleep are once again planning to hibernate following three newly revealed shows to close out 2019.

The news came via Sleep’s social media (below), and while the same mock-DOS-computer-style graphic the band has used for other announcements recently is a bit cryptic, I’m not sure how else to interpret “prep hypersleep facil for indef duration” other than “we’re gonna take a break for a while.” So if you haven’t seen Sleep in the past decade, now is likely your last chance for a while.

You’re gonna have to travel to Chicago to do it, but what a way to ring in the new year, eh? Each of Sleep’s three shows will feature a different opening act.

Tickets are on sale now, right here. Matt Pike’s other band, High on Fire, are currently on tour as well.
