This Cover of Van Halen’s “Eruption” on the Stylophone is Nuts

0

In case you aren’t fatigued from all the Van Halen content over the past two weeks (I’m certainly not!), here’s an absolute must-watch: a cover of “Eruption” on the stylophone, which Wikipedia defines as a “miniature analog stylus-operated keyboard” invented in 1967 by Brian Jarvis. Don’t worry, I hadn’t heard of the instrument either.

But wooooooow, this is cool! Aside from the novelty inherent in watching someone cover “Eruption” on any non-guitar instrument, this one is especially fun because stylophones are monophonic, meaning they can only express one single note at a time (i.e. chords aren’t possible). That means the person performing this cover had to use TWO side by side stylophones at once, operating one with each hand. And yet the precision and accuracy to Eddie’s original performance are stunning. Amazing, amazing job: kudos to YouTuber maromaro1337!

Thanks to Chad Bro-ger for sending this one in.
