Ghost’s Make Believe ’60s Era Gets Very Real Archival Exhibition

A real world exhibition is being put on in Hollywood recognizing the very fake historical significance of Ghost in 1969. From 4 p.m. “until late” this Wednesday, February 1, the iconic Whisky-a-Go-Go will host an archival exhibition called “Ghost — Reverence & Resurrection.”

Presented by Metal Myths, the showcase will “pay unique and extensive tribute” to Papa Nihil and the rest of the band. Specifically, the event will feature Ghost’s 1969 costumes and ghoul masks, “rare” and totally not photoshopped magazine covers, and a “veritable treasure trove of ephemera” that was “long unseen and never publicly displayed.” Of particular focus will be the band’s September 13, 1969 show at the Whisky.

All of this is of course for fun and not serious at all, considering the fact that Ghost actually started in 2006. Still, it’s crazy how much a throwaway EP has gotten so much fanfare and love after the fact. Seven Inches of Satanic Panic was released back in 2019, but it’s gained a lot of traction thanks to the TikTok popularity of “Mary On A Cross.”

Naturally, the exhibition will give fans a chance to buy shit they don’t need in the form of “exclusive merchandise and other surprises,” including an opportunity to get a copy of a purple vinyl reissue of the IP.

This whole engagement will be around for one day only, so organizers are urging any Ghost fans on the west coast to come around and attend.
