Premiere: Pentagram Returns with Riff-Heavy Stomper “Thundercrest”

For more than 40 years, American doom metal pioneers Pentagram have carved their name into the bedrock of doom metal. Though operating in a sort of on again, off again manner over the years, their influence on the genre is unmistakable. Now, for the first time in a decade, these titans are back with a full-length album Lightning In A Bottle and we’re the ones to serve up their latest single, “Thundercrest”.

Chock full of balls-to-the-wall riffage and a catchy hook, “Thundercrest” is three minutes of pure, unadulterated attitude. It’s got an undeniable groove and punchiness that’s sure to get any old hesher banging their head and throwing up the horns. Speaking of the single, the band said they hoped fans would feel the same way.

“This is our brand new single after long years. It’s called ‘Thundercrest’ and it follows in the intensity and heavyness our passion to play heavy music. We hope that the song gives you the intensity like driving straight through a brick wall.”

While we certainly hope you drive safely, we definitely agree that this is a hell of a song to go driving to. Just feels like you should be blasting it out of an IROC-Z, elbow riding way out of the window, dark aviators on your face… you get the image.

For those who don’t know, Pentagram in 2024 is comprised of original frontman Bobby Liebling, along with guitarist Tony Reed (Mos Generator), bassist Scooter Haslip (Mos Generator), and drummer Henry Vasquez (Saint Vitus).
