Live Nation’s ‘$30 Ticket To Summer’ Promotion Includes Pantera, Papa Roach, and Volbeat Shows
We’ve been on the record for a long time about how shitty Live Nation is for the industry as a monopolistic force on the average concertgoer’s experience. They own a ridiculous amount of venues across the U.S., they charge exorbitant fees on top of ticket sales, and they just in general suck. So it’s with mixed feelings that I’m sharing their ‘$30 Ticket To Summer’ promotion because on one hand, cheaper concert tickets are always a good thing but on the other hand — fuck Live Nation.
The promotion applies to shows in the U.S. and Canada hosted by a wide range of artists, including some that we in the metal sphere definitely appreciate. Running from May 21 until all the tickets are sold out, Live Nation is offering those $30 tickets to bands you might enjoy, like Billy Idol, Coheed and Cambria, The Offspring, Pantera, Papa Roach and Rise Against, Pierce the Veil, and Volbeat.
The full list of artists involved is as follows:
$UICIDEBOY$ GOO GOO DOLLS PANTERA AVRIL LAVIGNE HALSEY PAPA ROACH & RISE AGAINST BARENAKED LADIES HARDY PEACH PIT & BRISTON MARONEY BIG TIME RUSH HAUSER PIERCE THE VEIL BILLY IDOL JAMES TAYLOR ROD STEWART THE BLACK KEYS KEITH URBAN SIMPLE MINDS CODY JINKS KESHA SLIGHTLY STOOPID COHEED AND CAMBRIA KIDZ BOP KIDS STYX & KEVIN CRONIN BAND COUNTING CROWS LEON BRIDGES SUMMER OF LOUD CYNDI LAUPER LITTLE BIG TOWN TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND DIERKS BENTLEY +LIVE+ & COLLECTIVE SOUL THOMAS RHETT DISPATCH LUKE BRYAN TOTO + CHRISTOPHER CROSS + MEN AT WORK THE DOOBIE BROTHERS NELLY VOLBEAT THE DRIVER ERA THE OFFSPRING WEIRD AL YANKOVIC WILLIE NELSON
Apparently, tickets will be added throughout the summer, but those are the initial artists involved. Tickets won’t be available until May 21, at which point you can head over to the promotion’s webpage to find the show you want to attend and get your tickets. Rakuten and T-Mobile members/subscribers will get early access to the promotion one day earlier, on Tuesday, May 20.
Speaking of those accursed fees that people hate from Live Nation, the company said they’ve baked any fees into the $30 price tag, meaning everything except taxes is included up front.
So yeah, we still reserve the right to say “fuck Live Nation” and we’d love to see their business broken up, but at least you can get some cheap tickets for some shows while we wait for that to happen some day.
