Spiritbox Melt Middle America’s Minds on Kimmel with “Soft Spine”
As previously reported, Canadian metalcore outfit Spiritbox performed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and if past performances by other modern metal acts are any indicator, some moms in American flyover states were none too thrilled.
Playing the show in support of Tsunami Sea, the band ripped through their popular single “Soft Spine”. Shot entirely in black and white, the song featured a very enthusiastic crowd that looked more like a club show than a late night TV set. I’m sure the folks behind Kimmel pulled some Spiritbox fans from online to see the performance in person to goose up the enthusiasm on set.
You may not like Spiritbox, but you gotta agree that it’s refreshing to see particularly heavy songs getting pushed on a mainstream stage like that. Courtney LaPlante and co. could have easily chosen one of their “safer” songs to perform live, but the fact that they didn’t and were still given the green light to perform speaks to the band and genre’s popularity. And that’s only a good thing for metal.

The band just announced a new leg of their ‘Tsunami Sea’ headlining tour that will run from November 12 in Ontario, Canada until December 7 in Wallingford, Connecticut.
