Help Nate Garrett’s (Spirit Adrift/Neon Nightmare) Wife Battle Stomach Cancer By Contributing to Their GoFundMe
Following a recent stomach cancer diagnosis for his wife Nicole, Spirit Adrift and Neon Nightmare frontman Nate Garett took to the internet to make a plea to the metal community for some help. With a future of mounting medical bills and the uncertainty of what such a diagnosis could mean for their young family, he launched a GoFundMe campaign to hopefully offset the inevitable financial burden that comes with cancer treatment.
In a post explaining the situation, Garrett said the news has been an incredible strain that’s forced him to make some very hard decisions. He announced that he’ll be selling some gear to raise funds and Spirit Adrift canceled their planned European tour so Garrett can continue to focus on what lies ahead.
Rather than paraphrase the heartfelt statement Garrett posted on the GoFundMe page, I’ve included it here in full:
“My name is Nate Garrett. Some of you may know me through music, touring, recovery, or podcasting. Nothing I do would be possible without my wife, biggest supporter, and best friend, Nicole. In fact, I would not be here typing this if it weren’t for her endless support and grace.
“Nicole has been diagnosed with stomach cancer and we need your help. There are plenty who face these challenges who are in worse financial shape than we are. That said, we will definitely face significant financial strain and major lifestyle/work changes in order to fully commit to getting Nicole better. Any help we can get to lessen that burden is a godsend for us.
“If you have ever been fortunate enough to encounter Nicole, you know her most defining characteristic is selflessness. She has touched so many lives and given so freely. She’s done so much for so many people, because that’s what she loves to do: help people. She would never set this up for herself, but she’s allowed me to do it because we both know she needs help.
“If you have been touched by any of the music I’ve made, whether in Gatecreeper, Spirit Adrift, or Neon Nightmare, I can assure you I would never have been involved in any of that if it weren’t for Nicole’s unwavering support and encouragement. She quite literally kept me alive during my own medical challenges. If one of my songs reached you, it’s because of her. So now it’s my turn, and our turn, to return the favor.
“I will also be selling ALL musical equipment that won’t imminently be used to (try to) make the upcoming Spirit Adrift record. We don’t want this to be strictly a charity case, and I’m willing to sacrifice any of my worldly possessions to give us the best fighting chance. So stay tuned for info on gear I’m selling.

Garrett’s GoFundMe page had an initial goal of $12,000, but thanks to the generosity of the metal community, they blew past that, so the figure’s since grown to $28,000. As of this posting, the page has generated a total of $20,395 from nearly 300 donations.
