Riot Games’ ‘2KXO’ Official Cinematic Released for Courtney LaPlante’s “Ties That Bind”

Games. Metal. Common bedfellows, the both of them. If there was a Venn diagram that depicted nerds in one circle and metalheads in another, the two would practically be overlapping, after all. So when it was announced last Wednesday that a song featuring Spiritbox vocalist Courtney LaPlante had been recorded to help promote Riot Games’ new fighter 2XKO, that made a lot of sense.

As promised, the full track was released today alongside an animated cinematic that features the game’s colorful cast of characters. When it comes to the song itself, it’s a pretty straightforward alternative metal offering. Courtney sounds good in it, which really should be expected at this point, but musically it’s pretty stock, if I’m being honest. Still, it’s not a bad track at the end of the day.

For those intrigued enough by the cinematic/song to play, 2XKO will be released for free in early access release on PC tomorrow, October 7. A timeframe for the game’s arrival on the various consoles has yet to be released.
