Spotify is Joining Forces with ChatGPT to Generate Recommendations Because We Live in an A.I. Generated Hellscape

Fighting against the constant implementation of artifiical intelligence (A.I.) in everyday life feels like an uphill battle, doesn’t it?! Shit’s literally everywhere, from your cellphone, to your TV, to your toaster. You can’t escape the shit. So of course Spotify, the company that works to make the music industry shittier kindly decided to turn the enshittening up a notch by introducing ChatGPT into their systems.

Why anyone would think this was a good idea, I don’t know, but starting today Premium and Free users yearning for more personalized music and podcast recommendations can get AI-generated suggestions anytime they want. They just gotta swallow their pride and link their account directly to ChatGPI’s service. Type in a specific prompt and apparently Spotify will spit out something that maybe matches what you typed.

Surely, this will largely benefit the artists, right? According to Spotify, it won’t share content with any machine learning software. That means nohting will be shared with OpenAI to train their models. It’s equally important to note that the feature is something users must opt-in to, so you must actively tick that box if you want to use it.

All of this so Spotify can create a “powerful new way for fans to connect with the artists and creators they love conversationally, whenever inspiration strikes.”

Spotify in recent months have worked on adding new feaures for its users, including hi-fi audio and a partnership with AI software compnay ElevenLabs to provide AI-narrated audiobooks. This also comes at a time when A.I. generated music is causing major headaches for actual artists using the platform. Things have also gotten bad enough from a P.R. standpoint that artists are leaving the platform thanks to CEO Daniel Ek’s continued investment in autonomous, AI-driven military death machines.
