Limp Bizkit Bassist Sam Rivers Passes Away at 48

0

This freaking sucks. Limp Bizkit has just confirmed that their bassist, the goddamn talented and awesome Sam Rivers has passed away. He was just 48 years old.

Rivers was one of the three founding members of Limp Bizkit, who along with vocalist Fred Durst and Drummer John Otto, started the whole thing in 1994. He and Otto had known each other since their childhood, while he and Durst met while John was working as a fast food employee in the 90s. The band was ultimately made complete with the addition of guitarist Wes Borland and DJ Lethal.

Rivers was featured in every single Limp Bizkit release and even contributed guitar work for 2003’s Results May Vary after Borland temporarily quit the band in 2001. Rivers would eventually step away from the band in 2015 to work on his sobriety and he eventually rejoined Limp Bizkit in 2018.

Limp Bizkit posted this on their socials, confirming the news:

???? In Loving Memory of Our Brother, Sam Rivers ????

Today we lost our brother.
Our bandmate.
Our heartbeat.

Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player — he was pure magic.
The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.

From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.

We shared so many moments — wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones — and every one of them meant more because Sam was there.

He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human.
A true legend of legends.
And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.

We love you, Sam.
We’ll carry you with us, always.

Rest easy, brother.
Your music never ends.

— Fred, Wes, John & DJ Lethal ❤️

So far, no cause of death has been revealed. We at MetalSucks want to offer our deepest condolences to Rivers’ loved ones and surviving band mates.

Damn. Rest in power, Sam. This is a developing story.
