Gojira’s Joe Duplantier Gets Hand Surgery, Car Bomb’s Greg Kubacki to Fill In Live

If you’re planning on catching Gojira on their tour in France starting later this week, you may notice things are a little different. And that’s largely because guitarist and vocalist Joe Duplantier is on the mend after having to get surgery on his right hand. Since you need those to play guitar, the band’s since recruited Car Bomb‘s guitarist Greg Kubacki to handle that part.

News of the change was posted on social media:

“A message from Joe… Hey! I hurt my hand a few weeks ago. After getting minor surgery, I’m on the mend but unfortunately I won’t be able to play all my guitar parts on the next tour in France…

“No worries though, we hired our good friend @carbombgreg of the incredible @carbombofficial to ‘Give us a hand’. The mood in our camp is up there though, as we’re embarking for an interesting experience on our own turf. Show must go ooooon.”

We’ll just have to wait and see how things pan out. Kubacki is a damn good guitarist, so I have no doubts that he’ll kill it up there on stage. Here’s to Joe having a speedy recovery!
