Sh*t That Comes Out Today: November 28, 2025
Hey fellow American metalheads, how are we all feelin’ after a day of stuffing our faces full of carbs and dead bird meat and possibly overindulging in drink with friends and family? Satiated, I hope? Heading out for some deals on Black Friday? Stay safe out there, even if we’re not all killing each other for TVs like we used to… It’s a holiday week, so the release schedule’s a little light. Still, you can check these releases out while bargain hunting.

1349
Winter Mass (Season of Mist)
There’s a stark difference between listening to a Norwegian black metal album and actually experiencing the power behind that music in a live setting. There’s something to be said of the theatrics on stage and the sheer brutality that bands like 1349 put into their live show like the one they recorded in Oslo back in 2021 for this release. The sheer musicianship that goes into their live performance translates perfectly on this record, to the point that you almost feel like you’re there.

Blut Aus Nord
Ethereal Horizons (Debemur Morti Productions)
Two years after their Lovecraftian cosmic horror epic Disharmonium – Nahab, the French black metal stalwarts Blut Aus Nord have returned with their 16th album. And while it’s not a continuation of that previous release, Ethereal Horizons still speaks to the band’s penchant for otherworldly and unreal soundscapes.

Dream Theater
Quarantième: Live à Paris (InsideOutMusic/Sony Music)
To say Dream Theater’s been on a bit of a tear lately after Mike Portnoy rejoined the band would be an understatement. After the release of Parasomnia earlier this year, the band went out on a huge tour and this is the result of that run. Recorded in Paris, as the album’s title suggests, this yet another testament to the band’s grandiose live show now 40 years into their career.

Equilibrium
Equinox (Nuclear Blast)
If folk metal is more your jam, this is your release this week. Described as Equilibrium’s attempt at making an album that “represents the bright and dark side” of their art, this release is as cinematic as it is equal parts harsh and soft.

Malefic Throne
The Conquering Darkness (Agonia Records)
Comprised of Angel Corpse, Morbid Angel, and Origin members, Malefic Throne is pure, unadulterated death metal. With this being their debut album, it should surprise no one that this one goes absolutely hard, given the band’s pedigree.
