Nothing brings out the commenters like posts about Avenged Sevenfold, nothing brings out the haters like posts with lots of comments, and haters drive traffic. And we like traffic, hence we like haters. In case you missed it, MTV’s The Leak now has the entire Avenged Sevenfold album for streaming so all you can haters can head on over there and actually listen to the stuff you’re pre-emptively hating on. Close your eyes and actually listen to the music for a minute instead of letting the band’s haircuts and tattoos inform your opinion.

scream scream scream.
Okay, so I gave it a listen with an open mind. It’s not too bad. I like it better when they just rock and riff, though. Their little forays into non-guitar/bass/drums instrumentation is pretty laughable, and, as many have posted, their politics are submoronic, and I have a hard time getting around it.
But it’s hard to waste the energy hating on them with all the Korns and Nicklebacks of the world far more worthy of my valuable hatred.
Not sure why you’re quite as enthusiastic as you are, but no real complaints overall.
*rabble*rabble*rabble*
Can’t I just hate without listening to it? It seems like much more fun, plus it takes less time
They’re good musicians, but their melodies and riffs kind of seem like they’re an elaborate joke. They’re like ice cream jingles. Extremely well-played gibberish. However, It’s Almost Easy gets stuck in my head at least 12 times a week. So I can see your point. You almost halfway converted me, metalsucks.net.
Wayne’s “my valuable hatred”!!!! That is fucking awesome!!
You guys, VN and AR, just like to say the words “Avenged” and “Sevenfold” to rile up the haters, don’t you? I told my kids I have a birthday coming up and they can use my money to buy it for me.
Here’s the thing: I actually loved this band with their first two cds, then I heard City of Evil and decided they had gone to shit. An opinion I still hold. People don’t hate Avenged Sevenfold because of the way they look, no matter how much you’d like to believe that. Some people just think their music is very awful and their singer, not content to merely sound terrible, is also an actual idiot.
I listened but I had my eyes open. No picture of the band in view. I liked some of the music. Riffing is cool. The guys sound like good musicians. M’s voice doesn’t bother me to the point where I needed to turn it off. Overall not exciting to me. Not something I’d rock out to. Not for me. I tried. But, I’ll give it another listen this week to be sure since it’s so damn important to you all.
After listening to a little piece of heaven ive decided i still love this shit…. they have gone off the deep end but in a good way… i cant stand the random rock that other bands aka korn/nickelback superstars put out…it seems like they have formulas they follow.. I will even go as far and say Nickelback is todays Journey…. And A7X have taken this rock music thing to the next crazy ass insane level…. Love the Halloween spin they are putting on it…. To sum it up ITS BAT SHIT CRAZY!
Whoa, whoa!! John, buddy, I’m glad you like this record, but let’s keep Journey out of this!!! They’ve done nothing but entertain us in the nation’s great bars, and provide music for the nation’s underrated TV series finales! Nickleback have no such hooks!
Wayne’s right. Journey is completely respectable, so ease up there. In their defense, they’ve evolved from record to record. Early Journey compared to late Journey does not sound like the same band.
How did this ever lead to Journey? Who’s next? Hall and Oates? Bread? The Carpenters? Air Supply?
Does one ever need an excuse to talk about Hall and Oats???
On that topic (shameless plug alert), click my name for a video I made.
I prefer Chicago. How ’bout that track Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is? Think about that for a second.
can I pipe in???? Yeah please don’t compare Nickelback and Journey! They are no way in the same category or same league. But since this is a thread about A7X’s new album – I do happen to like it. I’ve been listening to it for about a week now and some songs such as “Afterlife”, “Dear God”,”A Little Piece of Heaven” and “Gunslinger” have really grown on me. I liked “Critical Acclaim” and “Almost Easy” when I first heard them. I like that the band has branched out and has tried new things. There are many different influences on this album from country to Danny Elfman/Mr. Bungle. Sure there are things I don’t like hmmm for instance I think having the last minute of “Dear God” just instrumental and it was mainly repetitive. I just felt it took away from the song. The use of Shanna Crooks – I think her addition could have been put to better use in some instances. I loved the layering of her voice with M.Shadows in “A Little Piece of Heaven” but in other instances like in “Dear God” it comes across as an afterthought to have her on the song in parts.
