TOM G. WARRIOR QUITS CELTIC FROST

Warrior – has quit Celtic Frost “due to the irresolvable, severe erosion of the personal basis so urgently required to collaborate within a band so unique, volatile, and ambitious.” Which I think is just a fancy way of saying “due to creative differences.” Which I know is just a fancy of way saying “because he and the rest of the band fucking hate one another now.”
Since the band’s last offering, 2006’s Monothesist, was a major comeback for this legendary band, I imagine that this news will break the poor little hearts of many a metal head. Please join me now as we remember Tom the way I’m sure he would want to be remembered: playing “Procreation of the Wicked” in ‘86. Fuckin’ metal.

Tom G.’s problem always has been a tendency of taking himself a tad too seriously. It sucks, but let’s face it, their comeback album & tour was pretty much as good as it was ever going to be for Celtic Frost, so maybe it’s best they don’t tarnish their legacy by hanging around forever.

Monotheist far exceeded my expectations – no, it isn’t Morbid Tales, but what is? – especially with a inactivity gap of over a decade, and they certainly crushed on tour, so what Dude Manbro said. Quit while you’re ahead and go do your evil black metal thing or death masks or whatever is feeding the hate.

i used to be a big fan of celtic frost/hellhammer and was glad to see the new album Monotheist.I have just heard that Tom Warrior has just died.Can anyone get proof of this?.
What idiots! I just found out and I’m mad as all hell… It saddens me no end, since the Frosties have been one of my top bands since 1984!!!!! However, i do think Mr. Warrior is totally pretentious- he truly believes he’s an ‘artist’, and, well, to my ears he’s just a headbanger, like the rest of us, albeit a tad more creative than your average hesher…Tom, I hope you read this, and if not, well, good riddance! But hey, let’s face it, Tom: you’re not in the same ‘artistic’ league as Brian Eno, Holger Czukay/Can, Tony Braxton or the Acid Mothers Temple. I mean, compared to all those outfits, your music’s quite ordinary, conventional, tame, and monolithic, but that’s excatly what makes it so damned special and timeless- what’s wrong with primitivism?
What’s next? Are you gonna regroup with Hellhammer and then send them packin’ because they’re just regular guys?? Hell, you’re no David Bowie! Don´t even try… As far as I know, the guys in Celtic Frost never have never been drunk or high (!!), but hey, maybe what they need is a bottle of whiskey and a handful of magic mushrooms to sort things out, in a relaxed and humane manner. Led Zeppelin stuck together for over twelve years, and they were bonafide, pretentious art-rock stars… OK, I’ll shut up- it’s just too much for me to take… Thanks for reading, anyway!
