VELVET SPACEHOG
Thursday, July 31st, 2008 at 11:15am by Axl RosenbergBlabbermouth (via Entertainment Weekly) reports that Spacehog vocalist/former resident of Liv Tyler’s vagina Royston Langdon (I feel like that name should be followed by the words “The Third”) is in the running to take Scott “I’m So Strung Out I Can’t Even Take My Coat Off Like a Big Boy” Weiland’s place as the new front man for Velvet Revolver.
In terms of brilliance, this is idea strikes me as being somewhere in between hiring Tripp Eisen to host your daughter’s bat mitzvah and fucking Tommy Lee without a condom, but, hey, everything $lash does is awesome, so there’s no need to worry… right?
Here’s a truly horrendous rendition of the GN’R classic “It’s So Easy” with Langdon on vocals and $lash on guitar:

Fuckin spacehog? Kerrap! were all over ‘em for about 2 months in 95, the usual stop worshipping the latest yank sensation and cover an english band then back to fellating the yanks! Can Velvet Revolver just fuck off or hire james hart from 18 visions-he’s been ripping off weiland for years and at least he’s cheap!
Terrible singer. Slash needs to bring back the Snakepit.
Axl, if you hadn’t told me that was “It’s So Easy” I seriously would not have known that. I’m all for low tenor/baritone vocals (hell, that’s my personal wheelhouse 60% of the time), but how about a little pitch control or at least finding the right key?
Jeez, seriously, this dude? Was Shifty Shellshock not available or something?
Slash should recruit Steve Grimmett, formerly of Grim Reaper:

What was the Spacehog single? “In The Meantime”? I guess if they were looking for a singer who would be intimidated by the higher profiles of the rest of the band then this makes some kind of sense. Shit, if they wanted that, they coulda got Lukas Rossi.
Fuck, Noyokono, not only is your moniker awesome, I’m kicking myself for not thinking of Rossi!
I actually think this would be a cool combo. Langdon has a really cool voice, and “Resident Alien” (the album with “In the Meantime” on it) was actually really solid. In fact, I wrote a piece about it a few months ago:

As for this video and any GN’R material, yeah, it ain’t pretty, but I’m really not interested in that. I’m interested in what any potential new material would sound like. Far as I’m concerned, ditch the GN’R covers completely… only Axl can sing them right.

Bob Fossil is correct, dudefrom 18 Visions would be ideal.
James Hart should avoid these guys at all costs.
Burn Halo actually has potential
I agree Vince.
Us Jews love Spacehog, and Langdon is a great singer no doubt, and a decent bassist.
You really cant tell how good these guys will mesh from an impromptu version of ‘Its So Easy’ – yeah it wasn’t to hot, but I think practice and a great recording session could change that easy.
Royston is due big time for a comeback.
Thanks, Sammy. My moniker is PATENT PENDING.
I’ve got Lukas Rossi on the brain as I recently read that he’s playing an ACOUSTIC show here in NYC sometime in the next couple months. It’s enough to make my head spin.
Could

I’m actually kinda stoked about this choice. Spacehog’s sophomore album, The Chinese Album, is damn good. If they gel right, it could be really interesting. As long as Royston doesn’t continue to try to be Axl.
