STATUS OF TOOL AND A PERFECT CIRCLE: “CLASSIFIED”

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009 at 3:50pm by Vince Neilstein

At least according to this, erm, “press conference” video for the set of recently announced Puscifer shows in Las Vegas.

The best thing about this video is the personification of the d-bag, frat boy Tool fan at 2:45. Nailed it, right down to the long-sleeve-under-a-short-sleeve T. You all know we love Tool ’round the MS Mansion, but that set of d-bag fans needs to go.

listen Vince, i’m all for calling a spade a spade, but what’s wrong with wearing a long sleeve shirt under a short sleeve shirt? I don’t have many long-sleeve shirts that are worth a damn, yet I have many sweet t shirts. To that end, it’s fucking cold as shit in New England, and I can’t wear only the tee (as I would in summer/spring). Mostly I wear thermals underneath…isn’t that sort of the point?

Let’s cool it with the shit talking about clothing styles as while i’m sure your style is impeccable…wait actually its probably not. In any case, I’ll leave you with a great Stewie quote:

“You know i’m cool because I wear long sleeve shirts under short sleeve shirts under long sleeve shirts.”

  2. hibernum says:

Didn’t every Tool fan wear the long sleeve under the short sleeve during the 90s? When I make my film about the late 90s (I call the roaring 90s), that will definitely be included, along with ravers with platform shoes, pacifiers, tribal tattoos, glitter, “e”, The Chemical Brothers, Master P, phat pants, braids, “cyber”, and the lack of cellphones. It will be awesome.

  3. That Guy says:

People ask about Tool and A Perfect Circle because they are actually worth listening to. Puscifer is a joke.

  4. Sammy says:

Yeah, what Seth and hibernum said.

And you can like Tool and A Perfect Circle all you want, but let’s face it, MJK named Tool after himself.

  5. Mike says:

$39 is a lot for a Puscifer show, if he cares about the fans so much, couldn’t he make it cheaper for some knockoff joke band? Video was okay.

  6. Matt says:

I thoroughly enjoyed Puscifer’s songs on the first two Underworld soundtracks, but that album really sucked. It’s like Maynard realized he could be associated with complete shit and people would still eat it up.

And this is coming from a Tool fan

  7. lern2swim says:

Mike, did you misse the part about there only being 3 shows total

Matt, I totally agree. The 2 initial mixes were awesome. Those songs were crap on the album and there wasn’t much else that was very good.

  8. vmanv says:

Nothing wrong with wearing shortsleeve/longsleeve at all. Write a post about your daily wardrobe, I bet you dress like a jackass.

  9. Daniel says:

I’m wearing a longsleeve OVER a shortsleeve right now… is that OK Vince?

  10. jay says:

it appears we’ve just spotted another trait of said d-bags in the wild– extreme defensiveness concerning their fashion choice of a long-sleeve-under-a-short-sleeve T.

you whiny bitches need to learn to take a joke.

  11. billybob says:

    HAHAHAHA

  12. Blackthorned says:

When the revolution comes I’m lining up right behind Maynard. He’s right about most things, especially his fans. And, by the way, he hates the ones that wear black t-shirts too.

  13. Seth says:

@jay: touchee, my post did come off a bit defensive, although that was not the intention (it was supposed to be more tongue-in-cheek).

Back to the music, I wouldn’t pay $39 to watch APC or Puscifer…but I would pay $50 or more just to watch Danny Carey play drums. It’s not all about Maynard…although some people seem to think it is.

A fan is a fan, and if you take them for granted, you are a douchebag, not your fan.

  14. Vincent says:

The d-bag tool fan is not a frat-boy. “Frat-boy” is not applicable to all assholes, dudes. The shitty Tool fans that Maynard hates are the fat, black t-shirt wearing kids that he claims “smell of cheese.” He’s right.
