Last month, The Dillinger Escape Plan frontman Greg Puciato lashed out at President Barack Obama in a lengthy blog post, taking the sitting prez to task for the bailout and calling him “George W. Bush lite, wearing a young black man costume.”
Well, you’d assume that Obama a) has never heard of The Dillinger Escape Plan and b) therefore would not have heard about/cared about what Puciato had to say.
Apparently, this is not the case.

Hello my fellow Americans.
Admittedly, this has been a busy couple of years for me. And so it was only recently that I sat down to see what people had to say about Ire Works, the most recent album from my once-favorite band, The Dillinger Escape Plan. And it seems as though the critics overwhelmingly gave their approval to this record.
I hope if you are reading this and you are one of critics who gave Ire Works a positive review you PULL YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR ASS, because… NEWS FLASH… in case you haven’t noticed, it’s not really a habit of metal bands to EVER go back to being hard n’ heavy once it’s allowed to go poppier. People believe this unrelenting expansion/”evolution” is necessary, but it’s not. It’s yet another once-great band getting ready to sell-out.
Now, you might think I’m being extreme. But if history has taught us anything, it’s that Ire Works is the beginning of the end. Remember Metallica’s self-titled record? A lot of people thought it was harmless. They were wrong. It started Metallica down a road from which they never returned.
I want my DEP to sound like DEP. If I want to listen to Faith No More, I will simply put on a Faith No More album. The Dillinger Escape Plan used to stand for uncompromising artistic vision; now they’re just one more band I don’t have to care about. Which is fine. I’m a busy man anyway.
P.S. The bailout was necessary. We do want people to get speeding tickets, but some people have the intelligence to just not to drive so fast if they don’t want to/can’t afford to pay the fine. Obama for re-election in 2012. Suck it, Puciato.

To clarify: I’m not for or against Obama, per say. I have a ton of Jewish friends (one of them is the main MS guys). It’s just completely irrelevant to metal news. It doesn’t prove to be a wise choice to continuously point out who is Jewish in the metal scene, what Jewish holiday it is, what the President is doing, who doesn’t like the President, whatever.
I’ll give MS one more bullshit post like this before I get my fix elsewhere. I fucking hate having to read about religion and politics on a metal website to begin with.

Do you live in some kinda fairytale world where religion and politics don’t influence metal? How can you not talk about them in the same context? Greg Puciato’s statements, whether you agree with them or not, are reflective of the way metal musicians are conscious of and opinionated in regards to politics. If you don’t expect to hear about religion and politics on a metal blog, I have to question whether you’ve actually listened to metal before.
If you want to exclusively read about metal music, go to metal-archives. That’s not what this site is all about, nor has it ever claimed to be. I gotta give these guys credit for talking about all kinds of shit related to the world of metal, even if it’s not entirely about the music. No one else does that. Personally, I enjoy reading news with a personal slant. So many people who frequent this site have absolutely no sense of humor.
I agree with sourdeez. this site is supposed to be fun, and opinionated and has to do with things other than just metal. I come here for the larks mostly, and secondly to find out what some random band did or is putting out.

We’re not talking about the guys on the site writing shit about what a laugh the Jewish religion is. It’s more an extol (haha x2 for it’s use, and the band) of Jewish band members, or bands with Jewish names. Not for nothing, but I have to question whether you’ve actually read the fucking lyrics the bands you listen to. I don’t think a majority of metal bands are trying to get across their Jewish appreciation through their lyrics. Generally speaking, lyrics about religion in metal speak of it’s irrational significance in today’s society. Do you not remember this website celebrating Hanukkah? What the fuck does Hanukkah have to do with the METAL SCENE?! Really…?

And to touch on the sites content:
I like 90% of the news bits this particular herald writes about (borrows, cites, receives, etc).
I just find it a bit unethical for a website that serves a purpose of metal news and entertainment to continuously express biased hidden ideologies, and religious gobbledegook.
People choose their newspapers based on the political standpoints developed through long term published party-siding articles. I know I choose mine in that regard. Hence, my choice of an unbiased (to a certain degree; we’ll say less biased to be realistic) paper. Every-so-often it’s appropriate for a grown man to take a step back, look through the eyes of the objective perspective, and read a newspaper with opposing views. Understood.
However, MetalSucks didn’t seem to build it’s foundation on a mix of metal news, and politics. If anything, metal news, and moderately humorous anecdotes.
Needless to say, what brings me to advise the objective perspective method to the situation, is the fact that 90% of people who read Decibel, Terrorizer, Revolver, Guitar World, or whatever, don’t read these maagazines for the political perspectives of the writers. And unfortunately, the biased hints of political sect in a news bit can bring down the convergence of readers because of the lack of miscellany in it’s views.
Again, understand, I’m not siding with Greg from DEP. I just think it’s extremely unprofessional, and a moderately amateurish move to display a political standpoint to people across the world if your readers aren’t interested in/or agree with the poli-talk fronted by “Axl”.
PS: I prefer Jews to Catholics & Christians if for some reason I had to choose between any of the ridiculous religious groups.

If you have been visiting Metalsucks for any given amount of time you would realize the writers interject their beliefs and opinions into pretty much everything they post on this site. Also, they don’t pretend to be unbias or censor their opinions in order to come across “fair” to everyone’s different viewpoints.
Certainly there some people such as yourself who get very offended by the idea that the writers here have a format in which they feel free to express their opinions. Which I find to be quite ridiculous considering that everyone who posts here feels free to voice their own opinion as well. God forbid the people who run the site do the same.
