I REALLY LIKE GOD DETHRONED, BUT UHHH…

Sammy O’Hagar gave it four outta five horns, and we were very proud to host the exclusive album stream shortly before its release.
So it kinda kills me to say that the band’s new video, for “Drowning in Mud,” is terrible. I mean, some directors know how to take a shoestring budget and do something cool with it, and some directors apparently think putting one dude in the middle of a field in a fairly ridiculous looking military outfit and filming him running around in a wide shot and then adding some old-timey looking effects in post will suffice.
Those directors are dead wrong.
Still, I encourage you to close your eyes and just enjoy the music. ‘Cause Passiondale is a really good record.

Axl you are so right, the song is really awesome, but the video………………
hey! thats my schtick!
shameless nonmetal selfpromo

The worst thing about this video is the fact that they keep show just one soldier the whole time. Running around, ducking for cover, but where’s the war? I think he showed up at the wrong field for battle.
They could have at least dressed up a few other guys to pretend shoot at him or something. On the bright side, it is funnier this way.
Are their guitars plugged into the shrubbery?
yes. god dethroned has gone “green”.
even if they had just zoomed in on the guy a bit more and not show the giant open empty fields that probably would of helped, but good song
Am I really the only one who thought this was intended to be funny?
I kind of got that impression
Great song/album, dumb video. Should have just used old WWI footage of soldiers in the trenches.
I refuse to watch this video and ruin the mystique of one of my favorite bands
LOL.. looks like the director raided a mental home and said “OK, now pretend you are playing army… PEW PEW PEW”
Yeah that really is a horrible video, it kinda makes the band look really lame somehow too. Shame becouse its a pretty good album and song.
damn, even bam margera could make a better video than that piece of shit
what?
Fucking hilarious! I love the random grim reaper they throw in there. I’ve seen far better videos from unsigned local bands…I’m talking local as in this podunk little town I live in. Still a fucking killer song. I shall be picking this album up.
Hahaha, this is like something to be expected from a twelve-year-old kid doing a video project for school. Nonetheless, this band and this album are both awesome.
My favourite things about this video:
1. No-one, anywhere along the line during its production said to themselves (or, more pertinently, to anyone else), “wait a minute – isn’t having one guy running around in what is very obviously an otherwise totally empty field a REALLY daft piece of footage to accompany a song about a battle with hundreds of thousands of participants?”
2. At some point in the making of this video, the decisions were made that a) it’s okay for that guy to be just standing there singing into thin air without the aid of a microphone, yet b) that guitar absolutely HAS to be plugged into a random shrub in the background.
Aww man… This is rough to watch. It really lacks the energy of the song. The album is so great- they’d almost be better off with historical imagery of the real battle- or even just a live video!
