ARCH ENEMY’S NEW VIDEO FOR “BEAST OF MAN,” EXCLUSIVELY ON METALSUCKS

Thursday, October 1st, 2009 at 2:00pm by MetalSucks

The Root of All Evil is the eighth studio album by Swedish melodic death metal legends Arch Enemy, featuring re-recorded songs from the band’s first three albums with Johan Liiva as vocalist — Black Earth, Stigmata, and Burning Bridges. The re-recordings have Angela Gossow, who’s now been in the band for nearly 10 years, on vocals, and they were mixed and mastered by the masterful Andy Sneap (but produced by the band themselves).

Regardless of how you feel about bands re-recording their old material with a new lineup, Arch Enemy’s new video for “Beast of Man” — originally from 1998’s Stigmata — is a cool live clip that accurately captures what it’s like to see (and hear) the band in 2009. The Amott brothers back together again, and Gossow belting it out in front.

The Root of All Evil came out this week. Buy it at ArchEnemy.net.

I like that song a lot better with the original guy.

I, too, fucking love Arch Enemy! I was just listening to them last night. (I’m not tattooing them on my person, though.)

  9. wackomann says:

Maybe it’s just me, but the first couple measures of “The Gears” off Dethalbum II remind me of the first couple measures of “Bury Me an Angel.”

  10. PoopFace TomatoNose says:

  11. ggggggggggggggg says:

I’m a huge Arch fan but this sucks.

  12. Is it just me or do some of those riffs sound like they were jacked from Megadeth’s “Hanger 18″?

  13. MikeAdam says:

Call me bias but i haven’t heard anything that Michael Amott is involved in that is terrible.

  14. BobFish says:

I hate the idea that they’ve re-released this instead of being good boys (and girl) and actually writing something new but…it is goooooood….really, really goooood. If nothing else, this album reminds me to go back and listen to their old albums again.

  15. jason says:

16 brutal songs the best coin i’ve ever spent-Arch Enemy#1

  16. john says:

    JOHAN LIIVA FOREVER.

  17. cekendahl says:

    Agreed. Liiva is the man.

  18. Daylon says:

Great song and so much better than the original. Love better mix in the albums entirety. Phenominal

  19. Boesesomen says:

Hmm, it sounds good, but not really like Beast of Man…
at many songs, Andy Sneap did good work, but at some, like this, he failed

  20. yooky says:

    Processed vocals….. great!! ………NOT

What a way to shit in a good song, and good album for that mather….

Anyway… i hate Angela’s voice… it has nothing interesting (besides she being a woman)

    Liiva’s voice was unique.

  21. nick says:

hmm i feel like she uses some distortion on her vocals, that upsets me because i love this band and I feel like she has a really good voice and all, I like to hear the natural sounds of the vocals, and if thats not good enough you probably shouldn’t be doing the song…

  22. Motoghost says:

Angela’s vocals are so much better than Johan, I can’t wait to hear all the re-recorded tracks.
