Full confession: I haven’t had that much of an interest in Mudvayne since The End of All Things To Come. Even then I wasn’t too into the band, but I’ve always enjoyed a few of their songs. When Mudvayne’s label came to us about premiering their new track “Heard It All Before” I was a bit skeptical, but this is probably one of the best Mudvayne tracks I’ve heard in a while and it’s certainly the heaviest. There’s a killer guitar solo, and Ryan Martinie’s tasty bass licks are right out front throughout as always. This song is definitely one of the more original tracks the band has penned in quite some time; it still sounds like Mudvayne, but not in the same heard-it-all-before way (pun intended) the band’s been recycling for years now.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of attending a show then your the one who missed something spectacular. The whole reason they stopped wearing make-up was because people like you got the wrong idea. They don’t need a gimmick or some silly costume to play great music. In fact they’re one of the best groups of talented musicians to still be playing today. I’ll admit this song isn’t groundbreaking, but it’s still good. I was totally blown away by ‘L.D. 50′, one of my favorite records still. Everything from the music to the lyrics are absolutely amazing. Some of the best writing ever. But on the other hand, I know people who like ‘The End of All Things to Come’ much better. I think this is building upon those two sounds. Besides, it’s only one track. How much can you judge by a single?

Honestly, I’m surprised at how good it is. Granted, it’s not groundbreaking or terribly innovative, but it’s a good metal song with some good riffs, which is something I never expected Mudvayne to do again.

I think most of the haters are the past lovers who are disappointed about Mudvaynes evolution from a really good, innovative band into this.

Man Sounds like new mudvayne… As a huge mudvayne fan im torn… they have there ups and downs(pros and cons i guess you would say) Guitar solos- a huge plus. I think ever since the singer went to Hell Yeah and did his thing he lost some of his awesome melodies he was able to incorperate in past cd’s( end of all things to come, Ld 50, and Lost and Found) the rest of the band(like always-except id like to hear some more melody in the guitar too to help bring out those vocals a lil more) sound awesome… Well that was my rant. peace yo
This sounds like a crossover between Pantera, Meshugga, and the only real Mudvayne essence that’s in it is the tone of the bass, it doesn’t really sound like the Mudvayne I’m used to hearing

Funny title. I feel like I’ve heard all of these riffs before…. in other songs. I’ll still give the album a chance but I havn’t liked these guys since A New Game. Too bad. I really felt that Mudvayne stood out among the mainstream metal bands. Heres hoping System gets back together and Tool gets cracking on some new material before the ice caps melt. Learn to swim!

I have been a fan of Mudvayne’s since I first heard Dig and they really want the music to do the talking unlike Slipknot that are still wearing masks and asking fans to take them for just their music, It all an image and they all must get tired of playing the same songs over and over thats why they have slower songs like” World so Cold” “Happy” etc(slower meaning there are some harmonies)
Anyways we all have a right to complain as tats what humans do best and we do support them when we buy their albums, don’t like it? don buy it or listen to it
I think I’ve stopped feeling the power of the ‘Vayne ever since the New Game came out…. I’ve been and still am trying to get into all the stuff that came out after Lost & Found but it all just feels so-so…. all these kinda tunes just sound like stuff they’ve already done before. I like bands that keep exploring new territory.. maybe Mudvayne ain’t for me on the long run (which i dislike saying..)
Never dug this band, but their bassist is a monster player, and he sounds great here. He could do so much more with his talent, but hey, he’s probably not at his day job right now worrying about it! :)

Mudvayne has lost all of their originality and it’s a real shame. This record seems heavier than the last, but it doesn’t seem like music I would have a desire to listen to (which I hate to say) because their first 3 releases were flawless.

Yes, the new game was a major disappointment. I went to see them in portland oregon when they were touring with snot and 10 years. It was the new game tour and they only did on song off of the album. It was an awesome show. About a week after that show, the new game was released and my heart absolutely sank. This was an overly produced faux metal album and by far their worst project yet.
The music for the new game was amazing but Chad’s lyrics and vocal style has turned them into something close to Nickelback. Fucking Nickelback!
I saw them on that same tour. Chad hit all the higher vocal stuff just like on the album. I was pretty impressed with their live performance.
I think the new game was their 3rd best album….with lost and found being the worst, all the songs on that album sound almost the same and chad didnt really have any good melodies his voice sounded the same on that whole album…I actually was pleased with where they were heading with the new game, it was some great song writing

I have seen Mudvayne live several times (everytime they come through my area) but I don’t think I will be able to go see them again until they pick it up. I like the song they have on their website “beautiful and strange”. But this one I don’t like as much, it doesn’t suck I could listen to it, but I never liked gregs solos, and this seems like one of the simplest mudvayne songs I’ve heard, the song sounds mostly the same the whole way through, and I’m not pleased.
so far i think ive got this album…its called lost and found, their worst album. so far the new songs sound exactly like the songs from that cd. Im really disappointed. Not as strong as some of their earlier material, and I liked Beautiful and Strange just a bit better. Always have loved Mudvayne, though The New Game wasn’t a particularly outstanding cd. You can’t expect a band to continue to repeat the exact same sound and truly be successful, regardless of who it is.
I have seen them live and thought the show was well worth the trip.
I for one, will continue to support Mudvayne, because I love a good rock band and they piss off they upstairs neighbors, which is a plus because I despise drunk fratboys who think every weekend is an appropriate time to play rap at 4 in the morning. If they would listen to Mudvayne upstairs, then they would not have the cops at their door telling them to shut that stupid shit off and writing them a noise pollution ticket. Heh. I’m a true ‘vayne fan but I have to say, I don’t much care for this song. I did like the Beautiful and the Strange but this one is a little bland for me. Honestly, what I always liked about Mudvayne were the LACK of guitar solos and the massive funk overtone in Ryan’s bass. I feel since The New Game, that’s been sadly lacking.
I also miss the absolute deliciousness of the trippy lyrics found in LD and End of All Things.
A band does have to grow and evolve and they can’t sound the same forever. I will always remain a Mudvayne fan, but I think they might have evolved themselves too far from what made them great in the first place.
Perhaps they’re too happy with their wives, nice cars and plenty of beer to write the angst anymore! Oh well, I’m sure we all wish we had those things!

Im a big fan of mudvaynes my favorite band of all time. The End Of All Things To Come album by far the best album they made. Thats just me. I have been listening to mudvayne since they came out but I like all their music. If you dont like mudvayne well to bad good music for damn sure ryan is the best and most technical bass player. But for sure mudvayne music may of changes but i still like it all.

Thank goodness this came out. Two good songs from the new album and it sounds less and less like “The New Game”. I appreciate what they have tried to do but that album had too much Hell Yeah’s influence.

this shows who the real mudvanye fans are. first of all, you people need to understand the way mudvany makes music. if they gave a shit about what you people think then every album would be an LD50 but if you noticed, each album is unique a d different in their own way. thats mudvayne’s style. they are always trying something new and their not afraid to step into new ground. if every album was a LD50 with the same face paint then you might as well call them slipknot. don’t expect the new stuff to be anything like the old stuff because thats not what mudvayne dose.

Haven’te heard the new track yet (will in a second) but I loved “The New Game”. My absolute favorite Mudvayne Cd. I know I am in the minority here but I love it. “Fish Out Of Water” is AMAZING.
I heard “Beautiful & Strange” and thought it kinda sucked. That song sounds EXACTLY like “The New Game” stuff. Which yes, I loved, but wanted to hear somethign different from them.
I hope this song is amazing. Either way I really enjoy Mudvayne and will buy their new CD.

It’s true. Even though this is the best song they have released since 2003 or so. it’s still not even close to LD 50 or the end of all things to come. People can say all they want that they need to progress and can’t put out LD part 4 and 5 but that’s what the fans want. most of their shit is very bland and will appeal to disturbed and half ass hard rock fans. they write straight forward songs now which is fine. one of my favourite bands is corpse and even though they progressed, they still stuck to their original game plan. but to be honest, i haven’t listened to mudvayne much since 2003 but it would be great if they went back to some odd time signatures and heavy ass songs. everything sounds weak and i am not a fan of chad’s new singing/screaming.
why do you think meshuggah, corpse, slayer, opeth, dark tranquillity, darkane, nevermore, amon amarth (just to name a few) have die hard followings? because they progress but they do not transform into a totally new band. it’s why in flames, soilwork etc.. have really pissed off fans like myself. you buy everything a band puts out and then they completely change their sound and write watered down shit like the passion is gone. if you really want to transform and explore new territories so much, at least release it as a side project
i’m a die-hard mudvayne fan. i’ve seen them 7 times, and they are truly an outstanding band live. there seems to be a lot of hating on their last album, and i wonder why. yes, it wasn’t the trippy, psychoanalytical lyrics of LD 50, but if ‘vayne had made their next albums with the exact same sound, it would have bombed. the bands that last change their sound as they grow. if the beatles had still been doing pop music in the late 60’s, they would have ignored and forgotten.
also, i wonder what was soooo wrong with The New Game? scarlet letter, same ‘ol, fish out of water, and a cinderella story were excellent songs. and have it your way was one of the most blistering criticisms of the bush administration i’ve ever heard.
i, for one, plan to pick this album up the day it drops, and i will definately be going to see them for an 8th time.

i=I was in the studio when this album was being mixed and the two producers -Jeremy Parker and Dave Fortman are good friends of mine as well as Mudvayne, this Album is song for song the BEST ALBUM by them Hands down several number 1 singles are definitely a sure thing.
By the way chazzy69 Godsmack is in the studio right now with Dave Fortman and the album is starting recording Monday.

Personally i think that all mudvaynes cds sound different. from ld 50 to the beginning of all things to end, to the end of all things to come, to lost and found, to a new game, and now this.. i love mudvayne alwas have since i was in 4th grade, and even though im a senior in hs now they still blow me away with their live show, with their new music.

this song is bad ass.Ive been a Mudvayne fan since 99 when they did their first tour with Slipknot. I do agree when hes not yelling he reminds me alittle of manson. not a bad thing.. this song still kicks ass though.
Its an ok song, but I’m not completely impressed. I do like how I see similarities between LD 50 and the new game in this song, but I guess I’m one of few who like what Mudvayne has progressed to, more than I liked their older music. dont get me wrong, its all good, I’m just sayin…\ this song seems to me like Mudvayne is trying to please the LD 50 fans…. Idk, it just doesn’t sound like mudvayne to me. however, I thought that beautiful and strange was from the mudvayne I know and love.
when I say “trying to please the LD 50 fans” I mean trying to please the people who bitch about their newer music.
Totally cracks me up to read that the band has sold out or this new music isn’t as good as the old music. Music evolves, as it should. I have favorite songs and not so favorite ones, but to say a band sucks or has sold out is just stupid. Listen to the music you enjoy and don’t listen to the stuff you don’t like…pretty simple, if you ask me. Just my humble opinion. Mudvayne is amazing live & I look forward to seeing them soon.

Nothin special. perfect title because we have heard it all before. that last release was tight though. I dk why people didnt like the games sound so much. I love how they went to little more good old rock sound on the drums and everything. And now back to the click bass drum. whatever, I’ll still buy the album guys. so far so good.

Not impressed. Not saying all the songs on there last album were bad or the ones on this one will be but haven’t been impressed in a while.
It was a decent song, but Im still waiting for L.D. 50’s sequel.

First off, the song is pretty good; nothing groundbreaking, but quality stuff.
Secondly, why does everyone and their brother seem to think LD 50 is this seminal album that everything needs to judged next to? I loved LD 50, but it isn’t even the band’s best album; that honor would belong to The End of All Things to Come. LD 50 was great because it was unique, twisted and raw, but it was still immature and unpolished. The songs on TEOATTC (awful acronym) were far more complete, great full songs instead of bits and pieces of greatness next to mess. Maybe I’m the only person that likes Mudvayne that thinks this, but I don’t want them to revert back to an album like LD 50; I think they are way past that musically; to return there would be a step in the wrong direction. Just to put it out there, I also liked Lost and Found; although I admit it was a bit poppy. The New Game was definitely boring and uninspired.
I think Mudvayne is definitely overlooked by musical snobs/elitists, especially in metal circles. I think most of these people who hate on the band constantly and make sweeping generalizations have heard about 3-5 songs in the band’s entire catalog. They base most of their hate on what they think is the “prototypical Mudvayne fan;” a teenage goth/nu-metal aficionado who dresses badly, hates the world, and has gained all of his musical knowledge from a Hot Topic store. I have seen that type of generaliation made here in the replies to this post, and it’s really weak. I think a lot of people would be into the band if they gave them a fair chance instead of immedialty pigeon-holing them based on stupid assumptions. The band is actually quite technical, unique, and far more mature than people give them credit for…and the band’s fans are – like the fans of most bands – actually quite diverse.
hey go to a mudvayne concert and you see who the real fans are. i will tell you its not the “teenage goth/nu-metal aficionado who dresses badly, hates the world, and has gained all of his musical knowledge from a Hot Topic store,” doubt they could survive at such a concert, but it is a well mixed age group of differnt types off people, most above the age of 20 and even some above the age of 40. many so called “metal bands” cant even grab an audience above the age of 20 so their fans lable them as underground and say they have not sold out like the rest.

I know Mudvayne has sort of moved all over, I think L.D. 50 owns it all, but at least this is sounding better than shit like Lost and found, the new game was slightly disappointing too. Still a big fan of them

I’ll give this band a high-five for staying [somewhat] relevant. They haven’t dropped off the Earth like so many nu-metal bands. And that was a coo-lass solo! Something the ‘Vayne isn’t known for. All I’m trying to say is, good for them for trying.
wats with all the hating on manson? everything from the golden age of grotesque back was good, his new stuff is not anywhere near as well-done (but then again he IS in his earley to mid 40’s now so wat can you really do about i?) i dont think that mudvayne is reaching for l.d. 50 in this alum, they realize that they cant really attain that again but they can still get the feel of end of all things to come

They’re well on their way to being Mudvayne, without repeating themselves. This is the first time they’ve showed a little influence from Pantera. I think its a pretty good song.

Mudvayne quite possibly one of the best with the exception of for the people by the people (king of pain and dull boy were good) and the new game (scarlett letters) they have always put out good music and this is almost as good as dig or death blooms or even determined so you mudvayne bashers and mason lovers put the dick back in your mouth and shut the fuck up
So far this album is getting watered down. I think having a back-to-back album release within a year is to quick.
