TRENT REZNOR WORKING ON NEW NINE INCH NAILS AND NEW NOT NINE INCH NAILS

NNIN

When Trent Reznor waved good-bye to touring last year, he never said he was waving good-bye to Nine Inch Nails, too; he was basically just going the “studio only” route. So I’m not surprised that Reznor is working on a new Nine Inch Nails album for 2010.

The second part of this statement from the NIN website, in which he announces new music from NNIN (Not Nine Inch Nails), does kinda surprise me, though:

Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, I’ve been working on not working for a couple of months, which for me is hard work. 2010 has a number of things planned including new material from nine inch nails and something else that isn’t nine inch nails.

“Something else that isn’t Nine Inch Nails.” What could it be? I’d love for that Tapeworm album to finally see the light of day, but that can’t be it. And I imagine talk of that collaboration with Dr. Dre probably died right around the time Eminem got famous.

Wait, I know what it is, I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!! Trent Reznor is the new singer for Velvet Revolver!!!

No, wait, that can’t be right.

Hopefully we’ll get more details soon…

That Trent Reznor guy is quite a persona… You never know what he’s gonna do next…

    • Russell

In this picture he kinda looks like the guy from the Fist of the North Star

  • John

I have up hope on tapeworm when I still cared about tool, that was nearly 10 years ago man..

  • msv81

I hope it’s better than “The Slip”, which was pretty disappointing (though can’t complain too much since it was free).

  • Sean

Maybe he’ll do the Industrial genre a favor an have an album with collaberations with guys like Al Jourgenson and Ohgr or Genesis P-Orridge. Hell get Michael Gira, Rhys Fulber or the guys from Front 242 and make an entire album of actual Industrial/Electronic music that doesn’t sound safe or club-friendly.

      That’ll be amazing!

    • !?!

I don’t think he gets along with any of those people. Or vice-versa.

  • Gaia

I will say that this is definately good news.

I think that he and Gary Numan are workin’ on somethin’ together.

  • Sluga

I guess he’s the new drummer for Avenged Sevenfold…

You want Tapeworm? Listen to “Passive” by A Perfect Circle. Apparently it was a Tapeworm song before A Perfect Circle decided to record it. I’d be interested to see what the rest of the material sounds like though.

New NIN is always awesome. I’m still waiting on that Year Zero sequel we were promised.

“Passive” is a slower more polished version of the song.

APC played it live once, and called it “Perfect Enemy” or something… that version was a million times better.

It’s entirely possible that this NNIN stuff doesn’t even involve Trent in a songwriter/performer/main dude capacity. He could be producing for someone else or something.

you heard it here first: Trent is venturing in the world of Bollywood: Nine Inch Ishqiya

It’ll probably be something with his wife. But really that would be a big disappointment as I’m not really into the type of music she does, with or without Trent, so I’m rooting for the Gary Numan angle – much better.

I’m guessing a Peter Murphy album.. Also hoping that the NIN stuff isn’t just the Fragile re-issue. New material FTW!

  • hackman

am i the only one who thinks dre and trent could work? both uber-talented, both care more about making great music than money (ignore the dr. pepper commerical), both are geniuses in the studio, and certainly both respect the shit outta each other. chronic 2010…?

    • Coop

Dr. Dre actually collaborated in some sort of producer role on “Even Deeper” from the Fragile.

    • nick

I feel you hackman, it would certainly be interesting… but I’d still probably rather some more NIN… i mean as long as its kick-ass

    I bet the not-NIN “project” is with his wife…like, a BABY. :)

    good fucking news
