NEW MUSIC FROM THE BLED IS THE HEAVIEST THEY’VE EVER WRITTEN

the bled - heat fetishBack in August I lamented the fact that The Bled signed with haircut-core label Rise Records, home to such “artists” as Attack Attack!, Breathe Carolina, Dance Gavin Dance a whole slew of other bands sure to make you cringe. The move didn’t make sense for a band like The Bled with hardcore roots and actual real, live aggression… a band that’s actually, ya know, good.

But now the band has released the first two songs from their forthcoming record Heat Fetish (out March 2nd) and they’ve completely made me eat my words. The two new songs, “Smoke Breaks” and “Moutheater” — both now streaming on The Bled’s MySpace page — are easily the two heaviest songs the band has ever written. And we’re not just talking in relative terms here… these two songs are heavy as fuck compared to anything by any band. We’re talking Converge and Dillinger territory here. Seriously. If you’ve never listened to The Bled because you thought they were part of a certain scene, now is the time to throw all of your preconceptions out the window and give them a shot.

Heat Fetish is suddenly one of my most anticipated record of 2010. With two tracks like these new ones, how can it not be?

Meh. Instead of being whiny screamo, they now just sound like a slower/sludgier version of Unearth which isn’t necessarily a good thing.

    “Mouthbreather”

Good song, thanks for the heads up Vince!

  • Driven9

Never heard of ‘em before, but I really like the mentioned tracks. I’ll def. check this one out.

        OOP fail.

New songs aren’t too bad. I think I prefer the sound from Silent Treatment to this, but I’ll wait to hear the entire album.

“And we’re not just talking in relative terms here… these two songs are heavy as fuck compared to anything by any band. We’re talking Converge and Dillinger territory here.”

I have never thought of either of those bands as heavy whatsoever. Chaotic at times, but definitely not heavy.

    • The Roan

to say that converge and dillinger are simply chaotic and not heavy means your not getting it.

      • Jason

To say that I said those bands are “simply chaotic” means you can’t read.

  • Adam

Wasn’t too impressed by “Mouthbreather” but “Smoke Breaks” was pretty good. Definitely a lot heavier than when I last heard them. Kinda reminded me of The Tony Danza…

  • JT

    terrible, generic garbage band.

  • Honeynutzz

    Can’t wait for this.

  • Patrick

Well I checked out an old song first, to get a comparison, and WHOA, “Shadtree Mechanics” is awesome itself. Then I checked out the new song, “Smoke Breaks” and it’s good but I think I might even like their olderstyle better but nevertheless I think I just found a new band to check out.

    Thanks!

  • Klitz

This band has been fucking awesome since “Pass the Flask”. If you don’t know anything about the Bled, you’re probably old, overweight, and a Megadeth fan.

wordddddddd. pass the flask has held the top spot in my heart, found in the flood just seemed to be something to listen as they made silent treatment and I’m really excited about this new album. The Bled is by no means generic and you’re a douche if you think that.

And you must be young, dumb, and a Suicide Silence fan.

“Pass the Flask” got old in like 0.1 seconds and I haven’t given this band a though since.

  • SteveM

Hey, I think Dance Gavin Dance is awesome. I know they have a silly name but their new album is excellent.

  • Ziltoid

This is not heavy at all. I have no clue what about either of these songs gives anyone the impression of “heavy.” This sounds like Unearth, which is a very bad thing. Then again, when you said heavy like Converge and Dillinger, I knew this was going to be shitty and not heavy at all.

    • Jason

Exactly what I said a few posts above.

  • http://www.ftsmetal.com James

..and how is this heavy? Its terrible. Yet another failure of a band on a label with nothing but failures.

  • mrak

GOOD. I’m glad to hear it. The Bled was so close to breaking up. I’m glad to see they’re back and heavier than ever.

  • BTK666

Didn’t like The Bled, not a huge fan of Converge or Dillinger. Thoroughly enjoyed those two tracks. Something about it is more coherent than the bands you compared the new stuff to.

  • fightingmike

This is alot heavier and let whiny than their older stuff. The new songs sound like Training For Utopia meets Coalesce, which is a good thing.

    • KC

And here I thought I was the only person left that remembered Training for Utopia. Damn those guys were good.

Also, new Bled tracks are awesome. Glad to see they went back to their “Pass the Flask” era sound as opposed to that whiny shit they pulled with Found in the Flood.

Holy shit. That DOES sound like Unearth, but coming from someone who loves Unearth, this is good news indeed. After listening to The Silent Treatment and not being impressed, I wouldn’t have listened to this of my own volition. Thanks, Vince.

  • mekd

Bled used to be good when they WERE “haircut-core” but since they’ve attempted to become heavier, just sounds boring, tinny and thin to me.. But hey, it’s a soundscape…right??? and also, to the dude who doesn’t think Converge is hard, you’re a dumbass. Pass the Flask was heavy… hahaha, it was really..

  • fuckman

You convinced me to look it up, it sucked……

  • Joe

Where do you get off saying that Attack Attack! doesn’t have hardcore influences? And i thought this website was about metal bands not “punk” bands.

  • Aaron

Hey we all have our own opinions…

They’re heavy with a muse – I like them. Very talented band, not into the scene, been around for over ten years… a good, strong band. I hear alot of heavier bands listen to them with nothing but positives to say about the dudes n jams. PTF is by far my favorite but rumor has it that this upcoming album is supposed to be just as good. All their albums are good, but all have dif vibes. Certainly wouldn’t put them in a punk-scene category. They’ve been around awhile and are satisfied I’m sure. Props to the bled.

Hell, the guitarist is listed as a top metal guitarist in the world in sourced mags, give em’ props!
