ZOROASTER FALL INTO A “BLACK HOLE”

It seems like there isn’t a lot of variation during the course of the new Zoroaster song, “Black Hole,” – even when the song does change riffs at the 2:28 mark, well, it then proceeds to stick with that riff for the remainder of the song. And intellectually I know that should be a real problem, but I kinda like the song anyway. It gets me moving. I dunno. Maybe it’s all the whiskey I’ve been drinking this morning.

Zoroaster’s new album, Matador, comes out July 13 as part of E1′s great metal experiment.

It’s different for Zoroaster, definitely. Is it better than Dog Magic? Probably not, but I still like it.

Actually, Axl, this song follows a typical ‘A-B-A’ format. The riff at the 2:28 mark is the same riff that opens the song: the ‘A’ riff. And it’s decidedly blackened!

Some of the best songs ever written are one- or two-riff songs. Not suggesting that this is ‘one of the best songs ever written,’ just suggesting that a song doesn’t have to have some arbitrary minimum number of riffs to be good.

This album looks like it’s going to be good. Ancient Ones, and now this song both sound fucking great!

    Nice, another brickwalled album.
