FALLS OF RAUROS ARE THE BEST NEW BAND YOU’LL HEAR TODAY

Falls of Rauros

Pay attention to this label: Bindrune Recordings. They’ve got a penchant for the dark, atmospheric blackness, lightness and melancholy that seems to go hand in hand with nature, and every release I’ve heard from them over the past year has been impressive. If you recently discovered Agalloch and find yourself wondering “Where can I find other bands like this?” look no further than Bindrune for an entire scene sprawling in all directions from a familiar focal point.

The latest Bindrune treat: Falls of Rauros, a Maine-based, nature-inspired dark metal band our own Grim Kim praised earlier this year; the above album cover should give you a solid idea of what this album is all about. Brooklyn Vegan is streaming their entire new album The Light That Dwells in Rotten Wood (buy it here) and I’m hooked; part Agalloch, part Opeth, part Insomnium… all epic, all beautiful, all awesome. Check it out.

Definitely have to check these guys out! This described me perfectly: I discovered Agalloch 3 months ago an have been dying to find bands like them.

I was going to say the same thing. I started listening to them early this year and as of yesterday was listening to other American Black Metal bands trying to find that same type of connection that I have with Agalloch’s music. So far Wolves in the Throne Room has the potential to stick with me. These guys are cool to, but I need something from them that stands out from the crowd.

What the fuck is up with this awful comments interface?  Stop trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

good call with this band. sounds pretty Agalloch-y, but that’s rarely accomplished successfully.

    good call, sounds pretty Agalloch-y.

  • The Apostate

Kinda boring. Unsurprising for yet another band named after a thing in Middle Earth.

  • Andrew

“Brooklyn Vegan” just screams metal cred.

    • Aaaaaaaaaaaa

they actually do a better job at covering metal and exposing good lesser known bands than most sites that are fully dedicated to metal

      • The Uncool Guy Down the Hall

But hey, did you try Spotify yet?

Anything new thats not deathcore is worth a listen to me…. Check out the band seidr, They have the same thing going on with some good death metal overtones. I love the recording style of there new album to… sounds like actual people playing actual instruments

    thanks.

I can get into this. definitely not earth-shattering, but it’s a hell of a lot cooler than a lot of new music right now. The acoustic guitar tone fucking rules on this recording

  • Dornen7

This is good. I have been enjoying this a lot more than I thought I would

I wouldn’t exactly call these guys “new,” but they’ve definitely flown under the radar.

I highly recommend the album Hail Wind and Hewn Oak.
