“Deficit”: Let’s Have a Russian Circles Jerk

The word I always come back to when describing Russian Circles’ music is “cinematic.” It’s so apt! Take, for example, their new song, “Deficit.” There’s a pretty big shift in the general tone of the song about halfway through — it starts out as an atmospheric, nightmarish dirge, and then leaps into a full-on rhino charge — but either half would make any movie trailer that much more appealing. Someone really ought to hire these dudes to score their film.
