You may already be hip to the string quartet known as seven)suns: they’ve gained notoriety in the metal community over the past couple of years as  result of their covers of Pantera and The Dillinger Escape Plan. In fact, it would seem that the latter band noticed, and was flattered by, seven)suns’ cover of “43% Burnt” — because they’ve been recruited to appear on the new DEP album.

Metal Injection broke the news, reporting that the quartet “will be performing music that reflects its work that was done on the new Dillinger Escape Plan album” at their April 17 performance as part of the Tribeca New Music Festival in New York City (tickets). violinist/violist Earl Maneein tells us brothers in blog:

“Well, they’re [Dillinger’s] tunes — I had nothing to do with the core writing process. Ben [Weinman, DEP guitarist] just sent me demos and I came up with string parts that I thought would work and he approved and tweaked what I wrote… we then recorded those parts at Kevin’s studio.”

“Kevin,” FYI, is Kevin Antreassian, producer and most recent addition to DEP (he’s now Weinman’s co-guitarist in the band).

ANYWAY: this is great news, right? DEP have been steadily expanding their sound since… well… pretty much since they started, but definitely in earnest during the Puciato era, which has produced no shortage of music with the ability to piss off mathcore purists. I’m so excited to hear what seven)suns bring to the Dillinger table that some pre-cum just dribbled out of my dick. BRB, gotta go change my undies.
