Meshuggah’s New Album Box Set To Come With Creepy-Ass Mask

0

Last week, we posted shots of the artwork for Meshuggah’s new album, The Violent Sleep of Reason. The cover is super weird in true Meshuggah form, featuring some sort of, I don’t know, tentacle mummy?

But those were some blurry-ass second-hand shots we posted. Now, Nuclear Blast has revealed the cover art in all its gross-out glory. Take a look:

Not only, that, but they’ve also revealed the box set of The Violent Sleep of Reason, which comes with the CD, buttons, stickers, a poster flag, and…a latex mask of the tentacle mummy.

JEEEEEsus, that’s creepy.

It seems like masks are the new promotional item of choice for big metal bands. Venom, Motörhead, Ghost, all have gotten in on the mask game. But none of them are quite as creepy as that Meshuggah mask (except maybe the realistic Gene Simmons mask). Maybe it’s because they’re all masks of recognizable metal mascots and figures, while this one is of some sort of nightmare spit right out of Event Horizon.

Anyway, Meshuggah’s The Violent Sleep of Reason drops October 7th via Nuclear Blast, and you can pre-order the box set here. My suggestion? Rock this on Halloween with a boombox, and if anyone asks what you are go full Jack Osbourne on them.
