Closet Disco Queen’s “El Mustachito” is Pure, Reckless Getaway-Driving Music
I was not a happy camper when guitarist Jonathan Nido and drummer Luc Hess left The Ocean, especially after the band’s peak live shows while they toured behind one of the best metal albums of our time, Pelagial.
But little did I know that these two bright young European slayers were just getting started. Jona and Luc may have put ‘prog on the burner, but they’ve been getting right down to the roots of the riff with their band Closet Disco Queen, and are set to drop their slamming new EP, Sexy Audio Deviance For Punk Bums via CrazySane Records on April 7th.
MetalSucks is stoked (in the proper sense of that word) to premiere a live performance clip for one of the tunes off that EP, “El Mustachito,” recorded at Ghost City in Röttenbach, Germany. This is the type of shit to smash play on while you’re cruising through the Nevada desert in a super-cool red ’57 Camino.

This EP is a way for us to close a chapter after a touring cycle of about 2 years since we released the debut album. This is the perfect way to end the CDQ V1.0 era and the new – more simple and groove focused – direction will open many perspectives in terms of line-up and songwriting in the future. If the whole thing looks and legitimately feels absurd, well, that’s because it is.
