It’s a slow week for new metal, so hey you’ll have time to check out all the great February STCOT action you missed, eh?

It’s a slow week for new metal, so hey you’ll have time to check out all the great February STCOT action you missed, eh?

Winter is usually fairly slow for releases, but it’s not even March and a bunch of cool stuff has already dropped. This week, we update you and your wallet on the second chapter of Earth’s double album, new jams from Orange Goblin, and excellent records from Pilgrim, Goatwhore, and Iron Mask.

This week brings less than a ton of new metal, but it does mark the unveiling of a tasty upgrade to MetalSucks’ beloved Shit That Comes Out Today column. The new format makes it easy to preview tracks and peep cover art, but that’s not all: In the new STCOT, we boldly list a few similar projects (y’know, for context) and recklessly recommend which new records might deserve priority in your new record-buying plans (in case your budget doesn’t accomodate all the hot new shit). So, like it? Hate it? Check out this week’s shit then give us your input in the comments.
Records by Alcest, Bleeding Through, Liberteer and Riotgod top this week’s slate of new releases. Oh, and we suppose Metallica have a “new” record out too. Those and more after the break.
Just because this week isn’t as awesome as last week doesn’t mean we don’t have some cool new shit coming out. New releases from Lamb Of God, Lacuna Coil, Dodecahedron, Aborted, Primal Fear and more in this week’s wrap-up after the jump.
I was surprised at the amount of quality releases that come out today before I set out to write this column since it’s still only the third week in January. New music from The Devil’s Blood, a ton of power metal releases AND Al Jourgensen’s long-anticipated excursion into country… this is a good fucking week. Click to read more…
So it’s been a few weeks since I’ve put out a column, and in that time I missed one item worth mentioning. Let’s take a look at that release and this week’s new records after the jump.
Well, here we are. As Metalsucks will be closing up for the year on December 16th, this article concludes an entire year writing Shit That Comes Out Today for Metalsucks. I’ll be posting an update with my first article of next year if anything comes out in the meantime worth checking out, but for now check out three new releases coming out today.

Only two Christmas-themed releases this week as we continue to close the book on 2011’s new releases. Next week will be my last article of the year, as we close down for the year on the 16th.
As the season winds down, this column continues to be shorter (and my workload easier). Just a few new things today, as well as the Devin Townsend Project box set. 2012 is going to have to really impress to match the number of awesome things we’ve seen this year…
There are only four relevant releases this week, the signal that we’re entering the winter new release slump. 2011 has been a great year for releases, so this is fine by me. Check it out after the jump.
Cynic’s Carbon-Based Anatomy EP highlights this week’s release slate, while White Wizzard, Blut Aus Nord, Bloody Panda, Coliseum and more are also releasing new albums. Let’s take a look after the jump.
New releases from Animals as Leaders, As I Lay Dying, Beneath Oblivion, Leviathan, Whitechapel and My Dying Bride highlight this week’s packed slate of new releases. Let’s take a look at what’s in store for listeners after the jump.
Not a bad week of releases immediately following Devil’s Night and some holiday called Halloween. This week is heavy on the awesome black metal, with Taake and Throne of Katharsis releasing sweet records today, as well as new shit from Megadeth, Steel Panther, Sick of It All, Dreaming Dead, Krisiun and more. Check it all out after the jump.
This week’s list of releases covers a lot of ground, between the sludge punk of Black Tusk, Noctem’s blackened thrash, a heavier side of Russian Circles, East of the Wall, Carnifex, Hammers of Misfortune and much more. Check it all out by clicking below.
New releases from Iced Earth, Insomnium, Electro Quarterstaff, Evile and Puscifer top this week’s list of new face-melters, while a b-sides / re-imaginings compilation from Cradle of Filth might actually be the week’s biggest new record. As usual, all of these are available at Amazon for less than you’ll find them at most other places. We take a look at the above releases and more after the jump:
We have a decent amount of new stuff this week, including quality releases from Skeletonwitch, Black Cobra, Hull, Fuck The Facts and more. This writer’s opinion on all of it after the jump.
NOTE: When this column was first published this morning, we erroneously included the release of the new Jane’s Addiction album, The Great Escape Artist. That album does not come out until October 18. We apologize for our fuck-up.
Compared to last week anything would be considered a small release week, but this week’s slate still has almost ten new records. Highlights include music from Danava and Absu, so you’ll have a few new things to check out if you somehow already made it through everything from last week. Enjoy.
HUGE drop of new releases this week including much-anticipated new records from Mastodon and Machine Head, as well as a ton of excellent other stuff from Craft, Dead In The Dirt, Landmine Marathon and more. My release reviews are a bit shorter than usual just due to the sheer volume of material coming out this week, but I think I covered most points of interest. Check it out after the jump. On a side note, Metalsucks wants to send a birthday shout-out to Rodney Githens, member of Vertebrae 33 and the artist behind the awesome Metal Suckfest poster. Have a good one, dude.
Just a few releases this week including phenomenal new records from Opeth and The Atlas Moth, as well as some less phenomenal releases from Thrice and more. All the details after the jump.
