TAPROOT WORKING ON NEW ALBUM; VIDEO AVAILABLE

1

TaprootAnn Arbor, Michigan-based hard rockers Taproot are back in the studio working on a new album. Having parted ways with their label Atlantic Records in June of 2006, the band remains unsigned and it is unclear what their plans for the new disc are. Taproot has also parted ways with producer Toby Wright (Alice in Chains, Sevendust, Slayer, Soulfly, Tantric) who worked with the band on their last two albums Welcome and Blue Sky Research in favor of Michigan native Tim Patalan (Sponge, Flickerstick, The Fags).

Blue Sky Research, released in 2005, was a surprisingly deep album featuring a number of quality songs with great melodies and producer Toby Wright’s trademark 3-part harmonies. Sensing desparation after Welcome failed to sell as well as expected, Atlantic hired on guest writers to work on Blue Sky Research including the Smashing Pumpkins‘ Billy Corgan and Jonah Matringa from Far / OneLineDrawing.

According to a report on ChartAttack.com, the band expects to be finished recording in 6-8 weeks and hopes to have the album released in the early summer months. In the meantime the band has made several video clips available of them laying down tracks in the studio on their own YouTube channel, TaprooTube.
