THE ALBUM OF THE DAY IS…
METALLICA, RIDE THE LIGHTNING
This is, obviously, a totally kick-ass album that I shouldn’t have to tell anyone who reads this site they absolutely have to own. I mean, pretty much every song on here- “Fight Fire with Fire,” “Trapped Under Ice,” “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” “Fade to Black”- is a fucking classic. Not in the hyperbolic sense of the word, either; in the sense of, saying, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” or “Substitute” or “Purple Haze” is a classic- a true rock n’ fuckin’ roll classic. That being said, it’s appropriate this week because it contains the best (the only?) metal song ever written about Passover, the thrash “Let My People Go” we know as “Creeping Death.” Blast it loud n’ proud at your sedar tonight.
