Awful movie, awesome soundtrack: Megadeth. AC/DC. Alice in Chains. Anthrax. Def Leppard. Queensyrche. Tesla. Aerosmith. Fishbone. And fucking BUCKETHEAD. This represented one of the last moments in time when metal was so open-minded, when Headbanger’s Ball showed Nuclear Assault and Warrant videos back-to-back. What’s even more impressive is how many of the tracks that appeared here originally still hold up: “What the Hell Have I” is one of the most under-appreciated, groove-laden tracks ever recorded by Alice in Chains, “Angry Again” kicks off with a some still-classic Megadeth riffage, and “Two Steps Behind” remains the last great Def Leppard power ballad.
