NEILSTEIN SOUNDSCAM: LIMP BIZKIT SCHADENFREUDE

300

Neilstein Soundscam

You will be happy to know that Limp Bizkit did not claim the #1 spot on the Top Hard Music charts again this week. That spot belongs to… Pop Evil. Who? Not Limp Bizkit, that’s who.

Aside from Unearth, there weren’t any notable debuts to chart last week. After the jump, a look at how the latest records from Black Dahlia Murder, In Flames, and many more fared on the marketplace of over-priced pieces of plastic and soon-to-be-obsolete digital files.

Top Hard Music chart

1 POP EVIL – WAR OF ANGELS
Last week: 9,292 (debut)

In the early days of MS there was a publicist who was friends with these guys and was working them as a favor, constantly trying to hawk them to us. And now they’re #1 on the Top Hard Music charts… so, uh, congrats I guess. If you’re curious, listen here.

2 FOO FIGHTERS – WASTING LIGHT
Last week: 8,466
Cume: 505,809

Quietly surpassing Gold status, though I’m sure their label trumpeted as much whenever the album actually “shipped” its 500,000th unit. In any case, it’s well deserved!

3 TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON – TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON
Last week: 7,604
Cume: 29,269

First time in a while I can remember a soundtrack moving any considerable number of units. Too bad it stinks.

4 LIMP BIZKIT – GOLD COBRA
Last week: 7,575
Cume: 35,118

Good to know that after a #1 debut this album’s days on the charts will be limited. Still, 35,000 units is 35,000 too many.

7 UNEARTH – DARKNESS IN THE LIGHT
Last week: 6,391 (debut)

I’m honestly surprised to see this album so far up, not because I have anything against Unearth but because I thought their fanbase had eroded as “classic” (lol) metalcore faded into the sunset. I’ll bet Unearth have had much bigger first weeks than this in the past, but 6,000 is still no number to sneeze at.

11 AUGUST BURNS RED – LEVELER
Last week: 4,650
Cume: 40,842

4,650 more people Axl can cross off his friends lists.

15 BLACK VEIL BRIDES – SET THE WORLD ON FIRE
Last week: 3,786
Cume: 39,841

I was in a room with their manager this week and could feel his fiery gaze burning a hole through my skull. It’s not like this band needs MetalSucks’ help to sell boatloads of merch to 13-year olds anyway. Our readers often act like 13-year olds in the comments, but most of them are like at least 16 (or 36)!

23 IN FLAMES – SOUNDS OF A PLAYGROUND FADING
Last week: 2,971
Cume: 21,528

Not really surprised to see this one dropping off so quickly. Did you see that Decibel gave it a nice review? How ’bout that.

30 BLACK DAHLIA MURDER –  RITUAL
Last week: 2,321
Cume: 19,238

Kinda surprised to see this one dropping off so quickly. I guess everyone who wanted it bought it right away. Would be curious to know how the t-shirt + album pre-orders did.

31 QUEENSRYCHE –  DEDICATED TO CHAOS
Last week: 2,311
Cume: 10,613

Would love to see the looks on Queensryche fans’ faces when they get home from the record store, rip off the plastic, put the disc in and realize how horrible this record is. Total disgrace to the Queensryche name.

97 ARCH ENEMY – KHAOS LEGIONS
Last week: 1,112
Last week: 13,944

Strikes me as weak for this band. Will find out more historical info next week; stay tuned!
