“VICIOUS CIRCLES”: NO MORE SUMERIANCORE FOR VEIL OF MAYA?

Veil of Maya have released “Vicious Circles,” the first single from their new album, Eclipse.The Born of Osiris-esque keyboard bits and the massive chugga-chug section at the end aside, the song actually steers clear of Sumeriancore tropes in favor of playing up a more classical, At the Gates/melodeath influence. I wonder if this is the beginning of the band trying to distance themselves from that sound, the way, for example, Job for a Cowboy eventually distanced themselves from the deathcore sound?
