ENSLAVED THINK NATURE IS COOL
Spoiler alert: Enslaved’s newest album RIITIIR has been pumping at all hours here at the MS Mansion, and it’s definitely going to appear in the upper echelon of many a staffer’s 2012 year-end list. I personally enjoy it way more than I did the band’s 2010 album Axioma Ethica Odini, although I’m not sure it can top 2008’s Vertebrae, which I ranked as my sixth favorite album of the year. Where will RIITIIR place in my 2012 list??? You’ll have to wait a little over a month to find out!
While you wait with baited breath for our year-end lists, check out the band’s new video for “Thoughts Like Hammers,” presented by sock-manufacturer Scion.
The images of waterfalls, rivers, mountain and clouds are visually striking, but they get a bit tiresome over the course of a 10-minute video. The clip was directed by Jerome Siegelaer, who offers this explanation: “In few words, the concept is that thoughts are liquid, hammers are stone, but they erode each other and merge. The scaling of subjects matters, in shape, size and time. All is supporting the flow of concept, and it ends into eternal vastness.” Uh, ok dude, whatever… you could’ve just said “nature is cool” and been done with it.
