Two pieces of Anthrax news which don’t really have anything to do with one another other than they both relate to Anthrax:

  • The band has scheduled a March 18 release date for Anthem, their covers EP — y’know, the one they said they weren’t releasing. Tracks on the EP will include recordings of  “Anthem” by Rush, Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak,” AC/DC’s “TNT,” Cheap Trick’s “Big Eyes,” Boston’s “Smokin’,” and “Keep On Runnin'” by Journey.
  • I guess a lot of fans were asking if they were gonna hold auditions to replace Rob Caggiano. And the answer is, “no” — well, at least not auditions that in which anyone who hasn’t been invited can participate. They posted the below on their Facebook page: Anthrax Announce Release Date for Anthem EP, Kills Fans’ Dreams of Being in the BandSorry to dash your dreams! You can read my fantasy picks for the band’s new guitarist here.

Anthrax will appear on this year’s Metal Alliance tour, performing Among the Living in its entirety; get dates here.
