Scott Weiland Thought Stone Temple Pilots Needed “New Blood”; Band Apparently Agreed with Him

Scott Weiland’s firing from Stone Temple Pilots is fast turning into the comedy event of the season. A mere sixteen hours before the band announced that Weiland had been “terminated” from the group, the vocalist gave the following quote to Rolling Stone:

“STP has not broken up. I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired. We’re talking about when we want to tour next.”

That would be pretty funny on its own, but it gets even more hilarious still! Weiland even went so far as to suggest that STP did need a line-up change, just not in his department:

“My personal feeling is that we just need some new blood in the band. It’ll give it new energy, so that we’re not just playing the same greatest hits set we’ve been playing ever since we got back together after I left Velvet Revolver.”

Okay, so, to review: Weiland wanted to fire at least one other member of the band in order to make sure that they’re weren’t “just playing the same greatest hits” repeatedly. So what’s he doing now?

How much of [your solo tour] will be devoted to [material from the STP albums] Core and Purple?

Easily 90 to 95 percent of it.
