Black Crown Initiate Play a New Song Live, Rivers of Nihil Play an Old One

0

Rivers of Nihil headlined Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar on Friday night and it was quite the event — a packed house gathered to see the band play along with their Reading, PA brethren Black Crown Initiate, NYC metal-gazers So Hideous and New Jersey experimentalists Torrential Downpour. Lots of beer was drank (drunk?), many a head was banged (bung?) and a few pits were even moshed (moshed!).

Black Crown Initiate — who I boldly proclaimed will release THE 2014 album guaranteed to fuck your face off — opened their set with a brand new song. It sounds like a few kinks are still being worked out from the live perspective, but if the rest of the album they’re currently working on is as good as this one song, boy, we’re in for a treat. Here’s footage from Friday night via Frank Huang of Metal Injection:

Later on in the night Rivers of Nihil played “Airless” — their debut album’s final track for which they just released a music video last week — and I believe it’s the first time I’ve ever seen them perform it (although who knows because, like I said, many a beer was drank [drunk?]). New drummer Alan Balamut absolutely nailed it, and the track went over really well with the crowd:

Head over to Pit Full of Shit on Metal Injection to see performances by So Hideous and Torrential Downpour.
