Wovenwar, the new band featuring every member of As I Lay Dying who isn’t Tim Lambesis and Oh, Sleeper’s Shane Blay, have released their first single, “All Rise,” via their official website. You can stream it below. Although it had previously been reported that this wouldn’t be the final mastered version of the song, that appears to have changed, and this, indeed, the track as it will appear on the band’s self-titled debut album. That album is scheduled for a late summer release via Metal Blade.

The most obvious difference between this and As I Lay Dying is the lack of screaming. I dunno how hardcore AILD fans will react, but Blay’s vocals actually sit quite well with me; not being much of an Oh, Sleeper fan, I wasn’t sure if I was gonna dig Wovenwar, but if the rest of the album is as catchy as this…

The lyrics are also pretty interesting. It’s entirely possible I’m reading too much into this, but my immediate reaction was that song is, at least in part, about everything that’s happened with Lambesis in the past year. “You never thought you’d be meat for the market/ What’d you expect when you sold your name?” — again, I could be overthinking it, but that sounds like a condemnation of one’s betraying his own values, doesn’t it?

ANYWAY, check out “All Rise” below, then share your thoughts in the comments section. We’ll let you know the album’s official release date the moment it’s announced.
