Obituary Band Photo 2014At the end of this month, it will have been five years since Obituary released their last album, Darkest Day. Too long! TOO LONG, I SAY!

But it looks like we’re gettin’ real close to the band finally unleashing a new beast upon a completely suspecting public: they’ve announced that they’re partnering with Relapse to rel(aps)ease the album they crowd-funded last summer and recorded this spring. There’s still no official release date, album title, track listing, or cover art, but, hey, those are such minor details.

Says the band:

“We don’t know how to explain it but we really hit the ‘metal nail’ on the head with this album. We have been writing and working on the new material for nearly 3 years now and we could not be more excited how these songs have all turned out. All the stars seem to have aligned for us and this release, with the songs, production and overall feel of this record, the band is more solid than ever.”

Although we have to continue to wait for this motherfucker to actually materialize, this is obviously a step in the right direction. And there are those three new songs the band performed live in January…
