Take a Guitar Lesson with Brody from Rivers of Nihil

Reading Rainbow TourRivers of Nihil and Black Crown Initiate’s “Reading Rainbow Tour” (because they’re both from Reading, PA… get it?) kicks off in ten days! These are, without a doubt, two of the best young up and coming death metal bands out there. Part of that is due to their ability to write awesome songs, part of it is also because they can play their goddamn instruments. I know “learn to write songs and play your fucking instrument” has been a running theme for some time now here at MS, and maybe you’re sick of us talking about it. But the reason we say it over and over again is because it really is THAT important. It’s metal’s version of “always wear a condom,” “never drink and drive,” “don’t swim for thirty minutes after you eat,” and “it takes a tough man to make a tender chicken.”

So, great news if you’re a guitar player: Rivers of Nihil’s lead shredder, Brody Uttley, is going to be giving in-person guitar lessons throughout the course of the tour. Says a press release:

“Rivers of Nihil guitarist Brody Uttley is offering guitar lessons while the band is on tour from September-December this year! Fans/aspiring guitarists can sign up for a lesson via Brody’s profile on bandhappy.com. Visit bandhappy.com/profile/Brody to sign up and to see when Rivers of Nihil will be in your area.

“Rivers of Nihil will be live streaming their rehearsal on Thursday, September 18 as they prepare for their two upcoming tours. Fans will be able to interact with the band and watch them practice via youtube.com/riversofnihilpa. The rehearsal will also include a brief Q&A with the band. Subscribe to the Rivers of Nihil youtube channel today to stay up to date and to be the first to see future videos and google hangouts!”

All of which sounds swell! Even those of you who won’t be taking a guitar lesson with Brody should watch that live rehearsal. I bet it will be entertaining and educational. Just like Reading Rainbow! AND The Reading Rainbow Tour!!!

Tour dates are on the admat at the top of this post. You can click to enlarge it if for some reason you can’t read those dates. But you should be able to read those dates just fine.
