Pig Destroyer - Mass & VolumeYou guys purchased last year’s two-song Pig Destroyer EP, Mass & Volume, was when it was initially released last year, right? I mean, it’s Pig Destroyer, and it was for a great cause (proceeds went to to college tuition of Katie Egan, daughter of the late Pat Egan, Relapse Records’ longtime and much-beloved director of retail sales and marketing), so you probably bought the EP even if it meant having to forego a meal or life-saving surgery or something, right? And the EP was only available for a limited time, so you MUST have bought it the second it came out, right? Right???

You… you didn’t buy the EP? What?!? You know what that makes you, doncha?

But even though you’re a total idiot, you don’t have to beat yourself up too much: on October 14, Relapse will finally release a physical edition of Mass & Volume. And you can stream one of the EP’s two tracks, “Red Tar,” below.

Something you will notice about the song the moment it begins is that it’s not grind. Written and recorded on the final day of sessions for 2007’s Phantom LimbMass & Volume is experimental/doom that’s much more in the vein of Natasha, the standalone thirty-seven minute track which originally accompanied CD copies of Terrifyer. Don’t fret, though — Mass & Volume is still a totally vicious soundtrack for murder, even if it’s a much slower soundtrack for murder.

Now here’s “Red Tar” for ya:

You can pre-order Mass & Volume here. The band also has some live dates lined up… PxDx shows tend to be FUCKING INSANE, so if you have a chance to go one of these and you don’t, you’re… well… you heard what the gameshow host said…
