Pray for Sound: The Best Instrumental Metal Band You’ll Hear All Year

0

Pray for Sound - DreamerBefore you write off Boston, MA’s Pray for Sound as yet another in a long line of atmospheric, instrumental, post-whatever metal bands, trust me that there’s a lot more going on than you might initially think. Sure, the beginning of “Decayer” — track two on forthcoming album Dreamer — starts off sounding like it could’ve been written by And So I Watch You From Afar, If These Trees Could Talk, Russian Circles, etc, but then the two-minute mark hits and the song passes over into all new territory. Simply put: it starts to rock! Not in a waterfalls-of-sound-crashing-over-you way, but in a real, honest to goodness, oh-my-rockness ROCK kind of way. By the time track three, “Sonder,” hits, you realize that it wasn’t just a fluke: this band is serious about rocking.

We first featured Pray for Sound on MetalSucks back in 2012, and now they’ve graduated to the big leagues by inking a deal with Science of Silence Records. Stream Dreamer in full below, or pre-order it on vinyl at Bandcamp. The album’s official release comes on November 18th.
