Exclusive Album Premiere: Rosetta, Flies to Flame
Surprises can go any number of ways. There’s the unwelcome kind, like a jury duty summons or genital warts. There’s the neutral, like an unexpected letter in the mail (bill or check?) or a call from a number you don’t recognize. Then there’s the most welcome variety: say, winning the lottery or a shot of good bourbon on the house.
Today feels more like the latter, because Rosetta’s label Translation Loss got in touch with us and asked if we’d like to stream the band’s entire new EP Flies to Flame. Of course! 2013’s The Anaesthete was full of just what we’ve come to expect from and love about Rosetta — excellently proggy, atmospheric sludge metal — and, on first listen, Flies to Flame continues in that vein. If that summation seems hasty, that’s because it is: we’re only hearing it in full now, just like you, but such is our faith in Rosetta that we’re always willing to give them the benefit of the doubt sounds unheard.
Flies to Flame comes out today. Order it here.
