The Night Flight Orchestra Will Release a New Album This Spring!!

The Night Flight OrchestraThe Night Flight Orchestra positively knocked my socks off with their debut album Internal Affairs in 2012, and I wasn’t the only MS staffer to be completely bowled over by it. The band features members of Soilwork and Arch Enemy in its ranks, but their music is a far cry from the Swedish melodeath you might expect given that cast of characters: it’s full-on ’70s dad rock, unabashed Steely Dan worship. Poppy jams with hooks for days, Bjorn “Speed” Strid’s sultry, sweet vocals, ace melodies, musical complexity and, most importantly, absolutely unstoppable, singalong songs.

So: good news — The Orchestra are back! A press release tells us that the band will release a new album in “Spring 2015,” although no exact date or album title are specified. The band has also added a new member to its ranks, Sebastian Forslund (also of Kadawatha), on congas, percussion and guitar. Here’s a refresher:

Björn “Speed” Strid (SOILWORK) – Vocals
David Andersson (SOILWORK, MEAN STREAK) – Guitar
Sharlee D’Angelo (ARCH ENEMY, SPIRITUAL BEGGARS) – Bass
Richard Larsson (VON BENZO) – Keyboards
Jonas Källsbäck (MEAN STREAK, ORCHID) – Drums
Sebastian Forslund (KADAWATHA) – Congas, Percussion, Guitar

Jam Internal Affairs in full below and start to get pumped.
