Sumac - The Deal

Hi MetalSucks reader! Welcome back to Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and everybody wins. And if we missed any legit new shit, we beg you to email us! Thanks! Now crank it up!

Primitive ManPrimitive Man
Home Is Where The Hatred Is EP (Relapse)
On a playlist with: Ulcerate, Thou, Coffinworm
Listen “Loathe” (here)

In the world of truly nasty bands, Primitive Man might be the only one which lives up to its name. Don’t assume that the Home Is Where The Hatred Is EP is primitive, just that it was made with primitive instincts! There’s a lot of discordance and anger here, mixed up to black-metal levels and spun out over 10+ minute songs. Unga bunga. A thick listen, but one well worth it!

Nailing Shut The Sacrosanct Orifice (Broken Limbs)
On a playlist with: Woe, Inquisition, Algalloch
Listen Nailing Shut The Sacrosanct Orifice full stream (here)

Sovereign is at the very edge of black metal with Nailing Shut The Sacrosanct Orifice — it’s blackened enough to keep your face melting but digestible enough to be moshable! This album contains the kinds of songs you have to see live. Luckily, they also sound good recorded.

Cemetery Of The Insane EP (Final Gate)
On a playlist with: Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Dying Fetus
Listen “Explosive Cadavers” (here)

Put on a flak jacket then say this: “All death metal sounds the same.” You might be thinking it, though, after spinning the Cemetery Of The Insane EP, which completely/unequivocally rips, slashes, and burns. Any band which can make you reconsider why exactly you favored a subgenre is a good band indeed. And this is their debut! May (new) death metal reign supreme!

Dephosphorus & HaapojaDephosphorus & Haapoja
Dephosphorus & Haapoja split (Handshake)
On a playlist with: Haust, Momentum, Yautja
Listen Dephosphorus & Haapoja full stream (here)

Some matches are made in heaven. Oh, and some in hell! The mostly unknown Dephosphorus and Haapoja specialize in weird, back room, psycho murderer kind of metal. Combined forces? Now we’re talking. Imagine a sword with two sharpened edges — slicing back and forth with each swing!

Barshasketh : Void RitualBarshasketh / Void Ritual
split cassette (Broken Limbs)
On a playlist with: Ascension, Enthauptung, Castevet
Listen “Heaven’s Gate” (here)

Did you listen when MetalSucks‘ Anso DF raved about Void Ritual? Because, damn, they put actual weight into black metal. And with the softer, more traditional musings of Barshasketh, there’s a lot of ground covered on a little cassette, so bust out the old player. Oh yeah, it’s limited to 100 copies.

Theodicy (Selfmadegod)
On a playlist with: Hour Of Penance, Trauma, Lost Soul
Listen Theodicy full stream (here)

All you need to know is that Theodicy contains hyper-progressive technical death metal, but nothing like Soreption or Archspire. You should also know that Deivos has been around for more than a decade! I’m calling this as having a decent shot of making some year-end lists for 2015. Now, go and indulge!
