Mutoid Man’s Helium Head was one helluva way to close out 2013: the debut album from the band featuring members of Cave In and Converge rocked my socks off in a way you’ll understand best if you go and stream it right here.

Happy news is happy, then: an as-of-yet untitled sophomore album will drop some time this summer via Sargent House, with recording having already been completed by Kurt Ballou (who else?) at GodCity Studios (where else?). Decibel has an interview, some pics from the studio and performance footage of a brand new track called “Bridgeburner” filmed at GodCity. It’s just as rocking as anything on Helium Head, maybe even more so: that opening bass riff courtesy of Nick Cageao — oh my! And that descending guitar riff in the chorus / post-chorus is just tits.

More news on the new album’s release as we get it, naturally.
