btbam-coma-tourWhy bury the lede? Between the Buried and Me, leaders of the modern prog metal scene, have announced that they’ll release a new album, the awesomely-titled Coma Ecliptic, on July 7 via Metal Blade. They’ll support the album with a summer headlining run, with support coming from Animals as Leaders and The Contortionist. Which is a sweet bill. Whomever put it together should pat him or herself on the back.

The first single from Coma Ecliptic will be released on April 3 (although we dunno what it’s called yet), the same day they’ll begin taking pre-orders for the album. In the meantime, whet your appetite with this description of the record, from the official Metal Blade press release:

“Once again, the band has returned with an ambitious concept album. This time, the story follows the wanderings of an unidentified man, stuck in a coma, as he journeys through his past lives. Each song is its own episode in a modern day, sort of The Twilight Zone-esque fashion. The unidentified man enters each world and is offered a choice: stay, or move on to the next in search of something better, something more ‘perfect.’”

In other words: as per usual, BTBAM are gonna give fans a lot to chew on. Righteous.
