Soulfly to Tour with Soilwork, Decapitated, and Shattered Sun

We Sold Our Souls to Metal Tour 2015I’m sure a lot of people rolled their eyes when Soulfly mastermind Max Cavalera recently claimed that the band’s new album, Archangel, would be heavily influenced by death metal. Even though the idea of the former Sepultura vocalist making some nasty DM, the idea of him doing so via the same group that still performs “Jumpdafuckup” seems like a far further stretch. Surely, this must be one of those silly “THIS IS OUR HEAVIEST ALBUM EVER!”-type claims intended to get people to buy the record.

Well, I haven’t heard Archangel, so I dunno if that’s really the case or not. But Cavalera is certainly trying to back up his assertion via selection of tour mates: Soulfly’s next North American headlining trek will feature support from Soilwork, Decapitated, and Shattered Sun. Okay, so Shattered Sun aren’t super-heavy, but Decap is death metal as death metal gets, and Soilwork, duh, are a melodeath band. So, like I said: it does seem as though Cavalera is trying to send a message via context.

Archangel comes out August 14 on Nuclear Blast. Here’s the tour itinerary for ya:
