Coheed and Cambria Want to Take an “Eraser” to Their Past Lives

0

Coheed and Cambria - The Color Before the SunYou know all that business about how The Color Before the Sun, Coheed and Cambria’s latest album, is their first that’s not lyrically tied into the whole Amory Wars fantasy saga? When the band first made that proclamation I initially offered a shrug — “it’s the music itself that I come for, maaaan” — but it turns out that Claudio Sanchez is quite the lyricist when he’s not writing sci-fi, and the songs on Color are instantly way more relatable than anything the band’s done before.

For proof, check out their new lyric video / pseudo-music video for album track “Eraser,” which premiered earlier today via Metal Hammer. If you’re in your 30s, as the dudes in Coheed are — or shit, if you’re pretty much any age at all and find yourself wondering just how the fuck you got to where you are in your life — these lyrics will resonate with you in a very real way. Yeesh, Claudio, you nailed it here.

The Color Before the Sun comes out October 16th via 300 Entertainment; be sure to check out MS reviewer Crash Thompson’s official review of the album. Listen to “You Got Spirit Kid” and “Here to Mars,” and pre-order here. Fall Coheed tour dates here.
